Yes indeed. All the Govt worries about now is the economy opening up again. Never mind that people are getting ill. Personally I still wear a mask when I go in a shop, and we haven't been to any indoor cafes or back to the cinema etc. DH was on the clinically vunerable list with his medical condition, so won't take any risks even though we've both been jabbed several times. Funny thing is, the whole pandemic seems to have changed my whole outlook on life. Makes you realise what is important ( or so I think), and there is so much you can do without having to do some of the more risky things and actually you are probably saving money at the same time. I mean download a film and watch it at home in your PJs and a load of crunchy noisy snacks....much better than going out in the cold to a cinema and having to sit next to people crunching popcorn all night.....lol. And make up a packed lunch and go out to eat, again much better than paying sill prices....our local cafe on the common is charging £7.95 for their new brunch panini....that's without a drink and times that by 2 people and its a lot of money! Ok, I'll get off my soap box now.badmemory said:

The Government's only priority is staying in power because the Tory Party believes it was born to rule. I truly believe it is their sole objective. The shocking state of the country is only of relevance to them in terms of whether it will hinder their chances of being re-elected.

It really annoys me that some of the people who vote tory are actually voting against their best interests & I don't mean their self interested best interests. It reminds me of my parents who were tory voters until I was 15 (only 60 years ago). We always watched the news etc. We had watched something & I was a bit of a communist in those days. Think more Israeli kibbutz than Russian. So as I was a bit of a stroppy teenager, nothing much changes, I stood between them & the TV an asked several different questions along the line of what do you believe should happen this or that. One being tory & one being labour. Every answer they gave was labour policy not tory. So I told them what I thought & got in trouble for swearing but they never voted tory again.

I do recommend Zopa - easy to set up on your phone and you can nominate one or more bank accounts to pay in or out of. Currently no notice is 2.86%, 1 week is 2.91%, 1 month is 3.06% and 3 months is 3.26%.
The interest is calculated daily and applied once a month from the date you put the money in. I put my sinking funds and my christmas savings in there as you can have as many pots as you need - they also do longer term fixed savings where my DS has his money and that's currently on over 4%.LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300

Thank you @joeyjimbles that’s the one I was thinking about. I think you or someone else recommended it a while ago. That’s another full working week done. Thank goodness it’s Friday.Worked in the office until lunchtime then had an eye test. What a palaver that was 😬 They couldn’t find my booking but managed to squeeze me in. I had to have the pressure test redone as one eye was showing as raised pressure and the other perfect. Anyway all’s well that ends well and the pressure turned out to be fine. I need new reading and VDU glasses but couldn’t be bothered with the faff of choosing them so have just taken the prescription. They tried to persuade me to think about distance glasses but I don’t think I need them yet.Feel absolutely shattered, my eyes are really sore after all that messing about, shining lights in them and puffing air in them.I’m only a few steps shy of 20,000 so will hit that target shortly.Cashed out £3.15 from TCB. A low spend day too - £2.90 in total.
Trying another new recipe tonight Pesto Fish Parcel from my WW cookbook, basically cherry tomatoes, courgette and red pepper wrapped in a parcel with a piece of cod topped with pesto.Going to have a nice long soak in the bath now, bliss.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)8 -

Been thinking about Zopa, but I must admit I'm a bit old fashioned when it comes to banks. And as I'd never heard of them, I wasn't sure about them. Don't want to go losing all my money....lol. Is it easy to get to your money when you need it?joeyjimbles said:I do recommend Zopa - easy to set up on your phone and you can nominate one or more bank accounts to pay in or out of. So pleased your DiL has been "set free". Re the distance glasses if you were driving/riding a bike I would say get them, but as long as you can still properly see across the road, we definitely don't want you to get run over, then it would seem a bit pointless. If they really thought you needed them I suspect they would be talking variofocals, which are break the budget time.

Really easy. You can nominate one or more bank accounts from which to transfer your money into the account, and then specify which one to send it back to. Depending on what notice you've set your pot to, it becomes available on the day specified and is in your account within 20 minutes of requesting it.Makingabobor2 said:
