I have a doogee rugged phone, which is one that can be used on building sites, frozen, submerged in water etc and is pretty unbreakable. My father's partner did actually leave hers in a chest freezer for a few days. It's the actual phone and not a case, and it has cool gadgets on it like a compass, plumb bob, magnifier, decibel measurer etc. I usually pay between 100 and 150 for them. The battery can last me up to 5 days. My father bought one for me years ago when I got through 3 phones in a year, but I keep buying them now because it's such a relief to not have to worry about dropping it. I know they're not the fashionable brand but honestly, the reduction in stress is immeasurable. Also, I get a kick out of occasionally throwing it across the room to show colleagues how tough it is 😂😂 They are quite heavy, but you always know when you haven't got it on you.
I wonder if you could convince Mr SA it's a proper manly man's phone for adventurers and expeditioners or something?
It's not letting me post a link but it's doogee.com/collections/rugged-phones
I got my last two from Amazon though as I tend to get a previous year's model for cheaper.
I've seen Blackview rugged phones discussed favourably on this forum too.

How lovely to get daffs
If you have all your past phones in good condition you can probably get a fair few quid for them!
Does Mr SA understand his personal spends? Can it be made clear to him that because of his actions there's no more insurance so if he breaks any phone from now on he has to pay for it and go without beer and charity shops because he has to pay for it

I keep my phones until the IOS no longer updates and start to get issues. So I can't imagine any of them would be worth anything. I still have some pre-smart phone era phones such as a Sony Walkman phone 😆

Thank you for this 🙂I've made a note of the brand for future reference as it sounds ideal for him.

Morning all, happy Friday eve.
WFH again today. Good to be back in my normal routine.
Did a morning yoga session from the FitOn app at 6.30. Not as relaxing as it should've been as the cat started weaving in and out of my poses. Further planned exercise is dog walking later, a lunchtime strength training class and Zumba at 5.15.
BG are coming to service the boiler at some stage this morning. It was only repaired 2 weeks ago and I got a message to book in the service the day after. I gave it a couple of weeks to recover from being taken apart 😆
Caught Mr SA with his phone out of the case this morning. Made him put it straight back in despite his protests. Sometimes I feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall.
As the weather is so lovely and sunny, albeit cold, I've got one load of washing out and plan to strip the bed and wash the bedding shortly. Other housework involves cleaning the bedroom.
I need to book the council to collect the chair and table so it probably won't be a NSD unless I don't get around to it. Boiler service is already covered.

Does Mr SA choose his own phone case? If he could treat it as a fashion item, that might help?

Yes he does. I think part of it is he thinks he's 'too young' to have his phone in a case 🤣🤣

Has he paid any attention to young people recently? They seem to be the ones with ruggedised cases and lanyards round their necks! Maybe you need to curate a selection of videos from influencers sporting 'manly' phone cases 🤣
Would these ones that screw/bolt together work? https://www.casebus.co.uk/Tags/heavy-duty?

Well nothing is ever straightforward. I went to book the council bulky waste collection and although it's £25 per item or 2 items for £12.50 each, the items have to fall into the same category. So the chair comes in the soft furnishings category and the desk under 'other' and you can't mix and match the categories so it would cost £50 in total. So… I'll book in the chair at £25. I can remove the metal legs from the desk for the scrap man to pick up and the wooden top I'll put at the side of the shed until we next have a skip or it rots down enough to break up and put in the normal bin.
The boiler service is done. The engineer asked where the carbon monoxide alarm was and could I find it! Eventually I found it on top of the fridge freezer where the engineer put it last time we had it serviced as he thought it was a good place for it. It was covered in dust 😬On the plus side he tested it and it still works thankfully.
I need to remember to get a couple of veggie sausages out of the freezer as tonight's dinner is veggie sausage traybake with PON creamed cabbage and leeks.

That’s so idiotic of the council. Then they wonder why they have fly tipping.
