Hope the boiler can be fixed without big expense. Ours stopped working back in November, but turned out to be the pump which was making the boiler shut off.

I hope your boiler is soon (and inexpensively) sorted, and the hair is gorgeous once rinsed!

You have to watch BG they have a nasty habit of condemning boilers. They tried it with my mother but she turfed them off the premises. My sisters boilerman fixed it in minutes.

BG are terrible for telling you things are old and can't be fixed, They tried the same trick with us when we moved in here, told us the whole CH heating system was in need of replacing and nothing was covered on our insurance with them. That was when we got rid of them and have been using DH;s 2nd cousin who is a self employed gas engineer and plumber ( used to work for BG but hated it). We had already used him in the past, but only for plumbing and fitting a cooker. Our system is still going strong, boiler is now over 20 years old and everything has been fine, apart from having a new pump last year. But new pump is so much quieter and cost effective, so happy with that. BG also told in-laws that they needed a new boiler, when it was only about 5 years old! Also they condemned their gas fire when they came out to service it!!

I haven’t had any issues with them over the years. The last boiler we had they did keep saying was on its last legs and would get to the stage where they couldn’t get the parts, but then it was 25 years old. They quoted for a new one but it was extortionate. We ended up getting a new one and a completely new central heating system when we had our kitchen and bathroom refurbished and went with a local heating engineer the builder used. Initially this heating engineer came out to do the annual service but after a couple of years he started to get difficult to pin down which was a shame.
