So sorry to hear your appointment was cancelled but not completely unexpected under the circumstances. Do hope that all goes well on the 28th and you get rid of that drain and can return to a bit of freedom.
You are one patient lady! I'd still be spitting feathers like your DDs!

I'm so sorry it was cancelled.
It's just really bad that you didnt get to know about an appointment you should have been at and now not getting to know about one you shouldn't have been at.
It's the communication to me in the NHS that's really not good.
I've had personal experience of not receiving letters and turning up for appointments and not being expected. At work a few others have had similar issues.
Today I was chasing my mums prescription, this was after a promised call back yesterday that never happened.
How much time could be saved if the service at the outset was a bit more streamlined.9 -
Our NHS sends out text message reminders of appointments. Is that not the norm elsewhere in the UK?
A letter of phone call first to set up the appointment, followed by text reminders.5 -

Well ,woke to a strange light in the sky I believe its call the sunmy grandson Ben is coming this morning to do a bit more gardening, and digging. He has been really good at what he's never ever attempted before, and I'm so pleased and he is really keen, and even went as far as buying some books on vegetable raising in our local second hand book shop. He says when he goes back to London next Sunday he is also going to ask his landlady if he can raise a few in the back grand of the house share he lives in at Hendon. He teaches at a primary school there and I think it will do him good to have another hobby apart from his beloved fishing.he doesn't get to do a great deal of that, living where he does, and relies on fishing trips with his Mum when he comes home at weekends. He's a real outdoors chap, and is hoping to go with some pals to Sweden to do some hiking and camping in the summer holidays.
Today, i'm going to do a little decluttering of books from my shelves, and when Ben goes back home he can drop them off at the charity shop for me as he passes it. Another reason to get the drain removed as I can then do a lot more decluttering and tip runs with stuff I want to get rid of prior to next years move (fingers crossed ) to our beloved Isle of Wight. Now most of the boys apart from Mikey have grown and flown the nest, Ben in London, Jack at his residential school in Goudhurst,Henry moving to London in August to house share with his brother as he works in the City there is only really Mikey left and he is at Uni in Essex for another two years so we will be looking to consolidate two houses into one and buy a house on the IoW. This has been our long term goal for a couple of years.my youngest DD can take her job with her and her OH is keen to move somewhere quieter as well i'm not fussed where I live and having spent a great deal of time on the Island as my late husband came from there I quite like a quieter pace anyway. My eldest DDs shall we say not thrilled at me going but understands why I'd like to go there. So hopefully next year will be the big move.
Right now its kettle on for another cuppa and I shall dig out some sausages for my grandsons lunch as he is partial to a sausage sarnie and has a healthy appetite
Hope everyone has a good day and the sun shines down on you all

Sorry to hear that you have another wait , so finger crossed for you. Could your teacher grandson start a wee garden patch at his primary school. I know some primary schools have them as part of their education about food , growing , nature and so on.
Bon Courage - and keep safe.7 -
Do hope you realise that my rant comment was facetious... after what you have been through you are allowed some huge rants!!
Hope the garden produces some delicious veggies ... and that Dora will be a thing of the past... shortly
Take care thereBeing polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

I don't see how text message reminders are an issue. Mine just say 'NHS Wales reminder of your appointment at x hospital on x date at x time. Please read your appointment letter for any special instructions'

Aw Jackie, just seen this. You must have been sooooo disappointed , I know Id have been in tears with the frustration of it.You are a pure inspiration, in that you just take it on the chin and keep positiveI do hope your daughter gets your case flagged, sometimes sitting back and waiting isnt always the best thing to do and you need to speak up. 14 weeks - thats a quarter of the year - way too long for being patient , its time to remind them that you have a life thats being impacted13

and every day is fairly precious to me, as it is to most people.
It's not only impacted my life ,but my family's as well. I am very lucky that I have such a super family supporting me bless them, I hate to think how many folk are in similar positions without a close family nearby to help.
I do try to see both sides, and I know waiting lists are long at the moment ,but you start to think is it because I am old and less useful ? that you get shoved down the queue ? sounds awful but it does cross ones mind
My smart nurses are pretty cross for me as well, they have been so good and I shall make sure once I'm sorted that something nice, and definitely edible will go their way to their offices.
Meanwhile its back to waiting, and two weeks today I am supposed to see the consultant. I think if he asks why I still have the drain in I will be tempted to throw it at him
DGS Ben is coming this morning to plant some spuds into his little veg patch that he's dug over at the bottom of my garden, and also maybe some onions if he can get some sets at our local Wilkos. He's really getting keen and I can see him getting hooked on growing food to eat.
Time for a nice cuppa now so have a good day chums ,its looking dry at the moment ,but April can be so changeable
Cheers chums JackieO xx20
