Good Morning chums I'm still being a patient patient I'm afraid. 12 weeks today since I had "Dora the Drain" attached and it is becoming a little wearing to say the least. I'm still awaiting the results from my procedure a week ago. But I'm just hoping the delay means its no too worrying at least.
I shall have to go back to the hospital to see the consultant to see what else is in the pipeline (so to speak) for me. But until I hear from them I am in limbo. The SMART nurses come and change the dressings bless them and have become friends
I still have my obs. to do daily, and I'm still a 'virtual patient at the hospital, just sleeping at home in my own bed ,which is better as it frees up the bed for someone else. I wonder if I had still been cluttering up the bed would I have been sorted sooner .
My two DDs have still been getting my shopping and the eldest comes in and collect any washing I have. I see them on alternate days as they both work and have busy lives, but I don't mind as I seem to see them more now than I did when I was rushing around normally
Mikey is home from Uni for Easter, and bless him he's not been at all well, which is the first time in 19 years I've ever known him to be poorly He got a really bad dose of tonsillitis about a week ago, with a raging fever that sent him to the Drs on campus .
He's never voluntarily gone to a Dr himself so he must have felt really ill. The Dr gave him two lots of anti biotics to take, and he's been on those, and last night he texted to say he was glad to be home and his throat was a lot better but he has dreadful backache !! weird as he's never had backache in his life, he is a very energetic healthy young man as a rule. I think my DD will want him to see their Dr. next week.I think DD was worried about glandular fever which is quite common apparently in large Uni's for some reason. But she will feed him up and make sure he gets an appointment if she can.
Well clocks go forward tonight so the lighter evening will hopefully bring us some warmer weather, I think this winter has seemed to be so long lasting I for one will be glad to see the back of it My eldest great granddaughter Erin is 5 tomorrow and DD said she will pick me up and I can pop to see her with her birthday present this afternoon.
At least on the productive side I have finished the baby blanket for my next great granddaughter, due 4th July in New York. I sent my grandson and his wife a photo via whats app and they are really pleased I must admit although it took me ages to make I'm pleased with it as well as it has stars ,hearts and unicorns imprinted in the pattern and is very pretty.
Right time for a cuppa chums ,hope you all have a good weekend and the sun shines down on you
Take care everyone and stay safe

Good to hear from you JackieUnis are breeding grounds , like nurseries ,. Isnt it glandular fever thats called the kissing disease? I heard its rife in UniYes I think you are right, if you were in a hospital bed you would have been done and dusted by now. But it is what it is and at least you are home and are having visitors and can get a decent cup of tea at leastHows the appetite doing ?Enjoy your afternoon with your granddaughter xxx11

Longwalker its improving slowly, I still don't eat breakfast, I'm definitely more of a cuppa in the morning, and have changed dinner to lunchtime, and just have a light meal in the evening so it seems to work better for me. Perhaps getting old has its compensations as I seem to eat a lot less than I used to
Last Sunday my DD picked me up to go to dinner at their house ,and she was surprised at how much less I eat now than I used to.But the upside is I also weigh a good deal less as wellso once the drain is out and I can get a bit more out and about .
I will be able to do a bit more walking as I miss my walks round our local park and seeing the ducks, especially the new baby ones with their Mums. Its the small things you miss when stuck at home.I must admit I certainly don't miss shopping at all, and will probably do a good deal less in the future.

JackieO xxAnd she does eat more on the day she gets out - she only goes out once, maybe twice a week nowGetting out for a walk will do you the world of good , mentally as well as physically. But dont go grand slam, just a wee walk to the end of the road and back, build it up slowly. You have been out of action for a long time , you might find you are a tad wobblyHope it comes soon for you, as you say, summer is around the corner7 -
Nice to hear from you Jackie, and good that your spirits are up
Fingers crossed you haven't too long a wait for the next part.
Also - tell Mikey to stop kissing dirty girls ha haa!I'm unsure about my spine, I think it's holding me back.7 -
Jackie, hope you've had a date to get it removed and that Mikey is better...

Hi chums well I spoke to my SMART nurse today when she came to do the dressing change and apparently I'm on their system as having an appointment at the HOT clinic (noidea what it is )on the 12th April at 10.00 I'm hoping it means I will get the reults of the procedure and fingers crossed get the drain removed and they will tell me whats next on the agenda.
I've not had a letter or any communication with the hospital admin, but after the debacle of 7 weeks ago when I was phoned by a rather cross nurse to ask why I was there to have the procedure done I'm not in the lest bit surprised .I guess at some point I may get a letter beteen now and then ,but who knows.
God and the NHS admin seem to move in mystarious ways their wonders to perform.Sorry at my slightly sarky comment ,comes from having a strict church upbrining
.
As to my lovely DGS Mikey he seems to have recovered from his bout of poorliness bless him and is popping round for a natter tomorrow morning as he is home for the Easter Vac from Uni .
My other grandson his brother Jack, who stayed at his residential school last weekend , as he too was poorly with a bout of flu also texted and said he was on the mend and will be home this Friday for the holidays until after Easter.
So he's coming to see me on his way home on Friday afternoon. He has been dating a new young lady, and he said she nice and he seems keen, he's a lovely lad, and was heartbroken last year when he and his long term girfriend broke up, after 4 years, and he was devastated
.
He was conviced its because he is not as tall as his three 6ft odd brothers that girls wouldn't be interested in him, he is the smallest, and 5'9" and his brothers all call him 'titch' or 'liitle'un'He threw himeself into going to the gym and looks fantastic and is a really health food fanatic ,but looks amazing now with all of his workouts.
His brother Henry, who had decided to bulk out a bit ,as he is 6'3" wanted to look good for the summer so he joined the gym about a month ago. but last weekend was hobbling around as he had overdone it and pulled some of his leg muscles, I offered him my walking stick ,its a fetching pinky/red with flowers decorating it ,but he turned it down ,:) can't imagine why
Those boys are such a lot of fun, and so kind to their old Nan, Jack never turns up without bringing me a posh slice of carrot cake, and Henry normally gives me a bowl of fruit of some sort , usually something I would't think to treat myself to like a nice watermelon,(my favourite fresh fruit but too heavy for me to carry at the moment ) or at one point he brought me a mixed bowl of stuff all peeled and diced from the supermaket so as he said I wouldn't have to bother with peeling it I could just have a nibble as I watch tv.
They are all good hearted young men and it doesn't seem that long ago I was chasing them to get their homework done or trying to stop them doing something daft, as I brought most of them up from little boys as Mum and Dad worked full time because with 5 children under 10 the shoe bills were eyewatering. Those boys and their sister Katie had their moments, and at times were vary noisy ,but they have all turned out nice young people whom I'm very proud of
Well thats all the news for the moment chums I hope everyone is Ok and fingers crossed spring is on its way,at least the lighter evenings will help a bit
Cheers chums

@London_1 The NHS does move (and sometimes not move) in mysterious ways. I hope they get you sorted out soon. It is so frustrating when things get drawn out and and there's a lack of information. In January I found by accident that the hospital had cancelled an A&E referral and told my GP but no one told me. I was still patiently waiting for the hopsital to respond and now more letters are crossing in the post and I don't know what to believe or what to expect.6

Thanks for the update Jackie - you've got the patience of a saint! As useful as Dora the Drain may be, I hope you can soon show her the door.
I can remember years ago sitting in the gynaecology clinic for an out patient procedure that should have taken about half an hour and was still waiting to be seen over four hours later. It seems one of the consultants had had to cancel all his appointments so they'd been trying to fit everyone in with the existing staff who were there. There were a lot of unhappy ladies in the waiting room that day!
Be kind to others and to yourself too.5 -
Stay positive Jackie hope the smart nurses are right and your appointment will be 12th April and you can finally get Dora the drain removed. Take care x
