Sorry for not checking in. I woke a few days ago with my eye swollen almost shut, sticky red and sore. Off to the pharmacists (three different ones) who told me to see my doctor. Doctor's receptionist wouldn't give me an appointment and told me to go back to the pharmacist and ask for ointment. Pharmacist told me to go back to the doctor and get a prescription. Doctor's receptionist said if it's anything to do with eyes go to an optician first. Optician was fully booked but seeing my desperation they squeezed me in. Lovely young lady gave me a thorough examination and a prescription for ointment but said I also needed antibiotics which she is unable to prescribe. She phoned my doctor to explain. Receptionist said email the request which she duly did. I phoned a couple of hours later to see if it was ready and was told it wouldn't be available till the next day. Phoned first thing in the morning to the news that they had posted it out to me (why? and in the middle of a postal strike!) Anyway, after much argument they agreed to print out another one and they would try to get a doctor to sign it and I could come and collet it. Got them eventually. So, here I am sitting with an infection which has gotten considerably worse due to all the faffing about. I look like Quasimodo and everything is blurry.
Just to round off my day the hospital phoned asking if I could come in n Tuesday to discuss the results of my biopsy.
I don't know if I'm coming or going! Sorry for the rant. So deep breath, cup of tea and I'll be back when I can see properly.
Hope you are all OK. I'll catch up with your news later.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.11 -

Only 365 days to retirement so Celebrate. I have been torn this week between messaging DS2 to say I'm still not well enough to go out and really wanting to see them. I heard nothing first thing and was starting to panic. However one by one, starting with darling d-i-l's mum, they have messaged me. DS2 has sent a present but baby and her mum are both ill now (have a lovely smiley picture of baby taken earlier in the week, before she got sick) so we're all staying home to recover (and relax in my case).
More options - DS1 is asking about me possibly moving near to them.
So I'm going to try walking to the library (2 books to go back and would like some more large print ones). If I feel okay I may try to carry on as far as little Arseda to buy supplies (which may include cheesecake). I can pick exactly what I want, it's nearer than any other grocery shopping options and no need to buy the minimum quantity required for home delivery) and if I buy soft rolls, sandwich supplies and drinks then I'm okay for my journey and can stay in my hotel room for my evening meal unless I actually feel like venturing out (and the waves on the promenade don't preclude it (plus will do some for the freezer because I don't know how much energy I'l have when I get back and there's lots of loose ends I'd like to tie off before the end of the month).
Then I will spend this afternoon relaxing, doing a bit of extra grooming/ pampering and quietly sorting bits to go to Blackpool (one set of washing is dry, the ones in the TD should be mostly dry and can go on hangers and another load - round up everything wearable - can go in both the TD and the WM. I'm keeping IOUs on my New Year takeaway and my birthday takeaway - no use splashing out if I'm worried about not enjoying it properly.
Grateful for getting extra grooming bits done (didn't feel like it but feel better for it now), not having to go out hunting for a new dress (just have to decided whether to put this one in the machine or have it to come back to), potential shopping (have looked at lots of sales, particularly charity ones and may treat myself (will set a strict limit first) as it's going to be a spend day
Written hours ago but we had no internet

Have some more hugs, @Toni’s friend! @f0xh0les enjoy your days of freedom.Nothing much to report here. Work was busy yesterday and no NSD. Got my hair cut at the cheap place after work. No nonsense, in and out in 20 mins.
Have done 14 days without booze and 16 days without social media. Got up this morning to do an exercise class, unheard of for me at the weekend. Didn’t feel like it at all but glad I went. Then BF and I mooched around for a good couple of hours being indecisive looking for a place to have a coffee. Bf is trying no booze for the weekend, he almost caved watching people sitting out in the sun enjoying beers, but he stayed strong.Found some nice deep breakfast bowls and coffee cups on sale.Doing a proper meal plan this eve to limit the top up shops next week, and I want a run of NSDs for the rest of Jan. So bread and snacks ban during the week… how draconian…. but it more fun to turn it into a competition and see who will cave first.
Grateful for sunshine, patient exercise class teacher and getting a long walk in today.

@Toni'sfriend hope your eye feels better soon, what a faff and absolute waste of time and resources!I was doing overtime on call today, got called in but was relatively straightforward to deal with, plus I got to catch up on a few bits and bobs while I was waiting for things to get going.I was home by lunchtime, had a freebie lunch left over from work yesterday which was really tasty. I did some batch cooking of lunches and dinners for next week, was missing one ingredient so couldn't cook some dahl, but that turned out okay in the end as I ran out of tupperware boxes to store everything in! I've also been looking up some new slow cooker recipes, I'm running out of grocery money every month so I need to start doing more cheap meals.Another NSD to add, have eaten well and also did a workout this afternoon.NSD's - 12Healthy food days - 12Workouts this week - 48

All sad looking veg went into the pot and a lovely vegetable soup appeared, I made spring onion bread to go with it, and then decluttered a rather large C******mas Pudding into their faces. Made a meal plan for the rest of the week from the pantry items. Then did a small shop to fill in the gaps - tomorrow being Chinese New Year we even have a theme, so cheapo gyozas from Herr Leedel, and even a small box of fortune cookies. All the food for this week's school lunchboxes and meals for sub £30. I am dealing in cash, and hopefully I can start racking up some NSDs now I am not working 3 doors down from Herr Ron.That is unless someone eats all the breakfast cereal again. Surely a box should last more than 16 hours????4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Today I am grateful for getting out and about with dc and dh, for liking the results of needle felting a scene in a teacup, for more croci peeping through, for chatting with a neighbour, for my morning coffee (always!), for finishing a good book and having another one to move straight on to.

21/1 and its NSD 11.
I've decluttered more paint onto a wall, it's a slow process getting the place decorated around work, DD and everything else but I'll get there eventually.
A long list for tomorrow again, and if I get through half of it I'll probably be doing well.

Happy birthday @grandmanerd 🎂🎉
Hugs @Toni'sfriend, hoping the ointment & antibiotics start working soon. Good luck for Tues 🤞🤞🤞
@f0xh0les you have been busy! Enjoy your few days of peace while you can!
Had an extra hour in bed, then did my yoga. Repeated the routine I did on Thursday, as it made my very weak stomach muscles ache, so must've done some good! Picked DS3's G/F up & we trawled 6 of the 7 CS. Didn't buy a huge amount & only 2 books for me, not the 10+ I often buy! Felt very disciplined 😊 DS1 has had more excitement today, he's walked 24km to & from Jim Morrison's grave. En route, he must've gone through the place where all the protests are, so got searched by a SWAT team! They were searching lots of people, he said. Thankfully he's back at his accommodation again now. Will be totally grey haired by the time he gets home!!!
Dropped a couple of magazines I'd been given, to the neighbour next door, with a photo of the DS's. She was very pleased. Sold one of my bears that I'd made a while ago 😊 Unpicked a zip, then did some knitting (hooray!) & watched progs off the box.
Grateful for DS being ok, fun with G/F, time to knit, a craft saleUse it up, wear it out
