Well the January blues have hit me today!!Woke up early this morning as DH asked if he could use my car to go to work as easier in the snow and I was wfh. Then saw a message saying school is shut. Felt quite smug that it wasn’t an issue for childcare as I would be home. Ha ha how wrong was I!DS friend came over so that kept him entertained but the noise, mess, spilt drink, blocked toilet (ds tried to sort spilt drink up with kitchen roll and flush it down the loo in one go), constant requests for snacks, drinks, lunch, dry gloves etc meant my concentration was shot so not a good work day or a good mum day!! If it’s a school closure day again, I’m going to have to take the day off & owe the hours back, I cannot and will not try to split my self in 2 again and fail at both. Doesn’t help when I saw other kids/parents on social media having a lovely time building snowmen, making hot chocolate etc. I believe school strikes are on the cards soon too.Anyways, sorry for the moan. Not an NSD as took ds to local cafe for a treat to try and make up for being grumpy!! However did cash out ££ from tcb. Completed another survey on ugov not far from my £50 payout there.DH has taken DS to footy training must be mad it’s freezing. I may take myself off to bed to be warm, grumpy and just write the day off & start a fresh tomorrow.Not a healthy food day but no alcohol so that’s something.

Sorry for your loss @thriftylass. Glad your eye doesn't hurt.
Thanks @f0xh0les, he's having a great time now. Had glorious sunshine all day & went up the Eiffel Tower this morning. I did panic when he phoned me at lunchtime, but it was to tell me DS3's G/F had missed the bus to our house, as she doesn't have my number. There's only 1 at lunchtime & 1 at teatime that comes our way through her village. The driver had seen her, but as she didn't flag it down, he didn't think she wanted his bus!
I stupidly stayed up late last night, adding songs to my playlist, so tired this morning. Decided not to get up to do yoga, but instead made a pearl barley risotto from the Tosco magazine for my lunches the next 3 days. It's quite tasty.
Teachers were striking again today, so I spent a lovely time logging new books onto the library system, putting labels on spines, etc. Went for a work with my work friend & met her new boyfriend. Picked DS3's G/F up, then came home. I had a nap for 20 mins, then set to cutting out shapes from felt to make hanging decorations for end of year craft fayres. Watched TV & messaged DS1.
Grateful for DS's txts, a day playing librarian (as a child it was my dream!), a nice walk & friend's new B/F being lovelyUse it up, wear it out

18/1 and still on NSD 10.
Today was car in the garage for a planned repair and MOT, passed its MOT with no further work so hopefully it will be fine for a while.
I've also paid a ridiculous amount for a planned social event next month but as I've bought 9 tickets and will be repaid for 7 it's not quite as bad as my bank account suggests!
As the car was going to the garage I had a bit of a mad tidy up before I left this morning- 1 bag of stuff binned, lots of bits of paper into the recycling bin, several items of clothing into the washing basket and a big bag of stuff to sort!

Sorry to hear about your ex-boss @thrifylass.
@abundant1972 glad you’re okay
@thrifty we share the same childhood dream 😊
I’m on NSD 3. All food from stores. Too much bread eaten, but you can’t have everything.
it’s cold here today! I finally get to wear the duvet style coat that I bought before going to Munich.
Yesterday my boss called me in to his office right at the end of the day which always makes me panic… but it was to tell me that I’ll be getting a (small but not insignificant) pay rise and bonus, and he praised my “hard work and commitment” which gave me a much needed boost.Will go to the gym today and hopefully get NSD 4! Grateful for extra money coming in, for a good night’s sleep, for the snuggly fleece lined pockets of my coat and the handy inside pocket that fits the metro card (sometimes it really is the little things lol)Student loan £5655

Good morning,
@Shrewbie great news
Today shall be another NSD, 5 in a row, not had that in ages.
Took Gumbo for us and sausages for the kids out of the freezer and will make a top up shop list for tomorrow night or Sat morning. Should really just be cold cuts, cereal and school snack stuff mostly.
Edit: Did an Asd@ order for tomorrow night. Came to £60 (including £13 for cat food), half my weekly budget. Will go through it again and whittle it down. Done it once already after completing it. A lot of things I still buy on autopilot. Like cereal, whereas we have loads of bread and jam that need used up, so the kids should eat that. But I did stock up on tins as we're nearly out of sweetcorn, beans and chopped toms.
Will also need to check with TCB as the order from last week hasn't tracked yet.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/257 -

I have very little to report. No major incidents yesterday and quietly celebrating the art of breathing. I ate my salmon (just plain, no marinade) the day before and my prawns and coleslaw mix (but substituted the creamy dressing for low fat vinaigrette) on wraps yesterday. Still eating cautiously but feeling much better.
I went downstairs yesterday but still weak and wobbly so DS3 helped me bring my belongings back upstairs. Rounded up rubbish and recycling but the white stuff returns each morning so I haven't ventured as far as the bins yet.
Today's food foraging yielded spread cheese (to put on the last two wraps), a large yoghurt and drinks. Filled the WM and set it off - the second walk across the kitchen was really tough. Upstairs I've cleaned my mask and the hose and had a shower. part dressed and waiting to feel like doing something more. When I can stand up for more than 2 minutes I should start on a washing up marathon and later go round using antiseptic wipes on door handles, light switches, taps (bathroom done).
Mainly keeping warm and comfortable but there are some paperwork bits I could do. I've started looking at things with a much more critical eye, mentally dividing into things I want and things I don't (they don't have a destination yet but may start boxing them up so they don't obscure the things I want).
I have managed the month so far without succumbing to a little money wasting habit that crept up in December, so I'm now working on eliminating the caffeine altogether, reducing other options in favour of tap water. Day 1 is going well. Grateful for my bed, being able to breathe (and sleep and eat), feeling calm (anything else is a waste of energy and I don't have a lot), making plans.9 -

Afternoon Turtles. Still feeling a bit under the weather and now OH and DD have been struck down as well.
Got a reduced shoulder of pork from Mr A yesterday so did that in the slow cooker overnight to save me cooking anything complicated. My sister gave me a £1.87 Xmas cake making kit from a well known posh supermarket and asked me to make it as my Dads birthday cake. Well I am glad she didn’t pay full price for it after having to add a whole pack of butter, 3 eggs and 3 hours worth of electric in my oven!
It was Dads birthday today so went for a visit with the cake which was apparently lovely. I didn’t join in as I am still trying to lose that last stone. I am toying with the idea of going to the doctors and making up some menopause symptoms to get HRT which will make it easier to lose weight as I have been struggling to lose the last bit of weight for the last 2 years and I am not sure how much longer I can last only eating1400 calories a day. It is very boring and I don’t lack willpower or motivation, just nothing is happening! Any Turtles on HRT to give me any pros/cons?

@firsview Only eating 1400 calories for that long probably got your body in starvation mode. I.e. not loosing weight because your body uses it all to live and stores the rest in case times get even harder. Google it.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/259
