Evening turtlesEarly start today as had a 2 hour drive to Milton Keynes this morning for a meeting, left home at 7.45. Looking forward to putting my expense claim in for that mileage!
Was lunchtime by the time I got home, I went for a quick run (probably no more than 5 minutes total, been a while since I ran!) Then back to work. Did a short pilates routine after work as well.
I stupidly forgot to cancel a standing order to one of the accounts I closed, so it left my account today. I guess I just have to wait for it to be refunded? Hopefully won't take too long.
Nothing particularly MSE about today apart from being a NSD.NSD's - 8Healthy food days - 11Workouts this week - 811 -
Like you @lcc86 today has brought nothing particularly money saving… I did have leftovers for lunch 🤷♀️
It was so incredibly cold here today that I felt very grateful for central heating, for working from home, and for not having to commute to the office very often.
Have a restful evening, turtles xxNST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸10 -
NSD #10 for me up to now. Today was a spend day, bread, car parking, a charity shop book, and a couple of other things.Plenty of walking today. The dog decided he wanted a long walk (probably because it wasn't raining for once), then we walked round a local town that we had decided to visit, for a tour of the charity shops and for OH to get some consumables for the stuff that he makes. I kept the receipt for these (filed for tax purposes), and entered the amount spent into his account book. For lunch we had the nice bread that I had bought from the bakers in town, with some terrine that I had frozen just after Christmas, chutney and salad bits, and I made Thai chicken curry for dinner. There will be enough for tomorrow too.9

Hi turtles,
Finally achieved another NSD so now 6/15. Goodish work day although I’m getting grumpy with people not doing their jobs properly and making mine harder than it needs to be or the time stealers who ask me to deal with things they could easily do themselves if they’d just think about it grrrr!
Went through DS spellings and he knew them all straight away which helped time wise so he could get on to his main homework. He has to write his biography and it’s been an enjoyable evening looking through photos reminding us of memories made to make a plan.
Dropped car off for mot tomorrow, fingers crossed it’s just the mot fee to pay for as the car pot is the one that gets stolen from quite often!
Healthy food day except for an egg filled with creme! Tried to drink more water but it’s too cold! It’s snowing here at the moment don’t think it will be loads but ds is hoping for a snow day off school although DH reminded him school is set up now for home schooling - it made ds and me both shiver with horror at the thought of ever doing that again.Nothing else to report really. Considering we are supposed to be travelling to Oz in 10 weeks nothing is sorted or booked! It’s a bit of a shambles! All accounts ticking along. Noticed I’m being charged for sending photos to my friend on my mobile so need to remember to use other messaging methods if sending photos. Other than that nothing very mse going on.Lightbulb moment - 17/08/2017 £17,033. Current CC debt £0.00 DFD 31/7/24 🥳. Member #8 of Fiver Friday Challenge £175/£2608 -
f0xh0les said:Oh, and I decluttered an item from the Chocolate Hotel people, that was really disappointing. It looked good, but it just tasted utterly boring. So glad I was not the one that paid for it!! I remembered those less fortunate than myself in far flung countries, and bravely ate it anyway.I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. @beanielou- starting to worry about you now, are you OK?
16/1 and still on 9 NSDs.
But I have food shopped with a list, some bits not bought because there were gaps on the shelves but I'm not going somewhere else tomorrow so the meal plan will just be slightly re-jigged. Money saving by necessity I guess.
I have made lunch for tomorrow, so no plans to spend anything tomorrow.
Mondays are my crazy days where if we make it to the end of the day it's a success, so nothing else to report and it's bedtime.9 -
Woke up feeling quite positive continued with YWA, then got dressed, ready to clear the driveway from snow, only to receive messages from my son who didn't catch any sleep waiting overnight at the airport. He'd received an email to say his accommodation had been cancelled, so I phoned France again, to say he was on his way. They confirmed his booking was still valid *(see further down my post) told him to go through security, he was fully searched & his bag. Then he was panicking as his gate hadn't been announced. I rushed round trying to eat my breakfast, make my lunch & feed the cat & wild birds before leaving early for work. His gate was finally announced 50 mins before departure. I felt do stressed that my heart was pounding & I had a job breathing, plus I was with a different pupil in a double period of music, so felt like my chest was going to explode!!! Calmed down a bit at break time, when I could walk around outside. Afternoon pupil cranky & tired, so a long afternoon! Left for home as soon as the bell rang, so I could drive in the snow in daylight. Received a txt from DS1 to say he'd landed in Paris, but had to figure out how to get into the city, then another to say he was on a train. Didn't hear anything for a while, then received a txt to say there was something wrong with his accommodation! * The daft woman spent an hour telling him that he could only stay there for 3 nights, despite paying for 10 nights upfront!! He was so stressed & scared & tired. I tried to phone the hotel, bit it just rang out. He's going to speak to the manager tomorrow. I hope he manages to sleep tonight. He's in a 4 bed dormitory type room. I tried to stay calm for him & he said I was a big help, but the stress started to build again!
Finished my book, unpicked a coat zip & replaced it. Going to head to bed in a minute & hope tomorrow is a better day. As I've mentioned before DS has never been abroad before & he's travelling solo, so it makes me very worried that this has happened to him.
Grateful for txt messages, that he's arrived in Paris in one piece, supportive friends, watching children play in the snow
