    And the incredible response:

    - The last FIVE digits of the card number
    - The card TYPE - The date of any transactions
    - The amount of any transactions
    - The brand name that appears on your bank statement
    - The name and contact details

Should you have any more questions, please do let us know and we will be happy to assist you further.

    Kind Regards, "

Since I emailed my complaint via Lovefilm's website, they have all my details. Unless, of course they are saying that, when I cancelled my account, they deleted them. But then, where would they have got the credit card details to charge my account from?

Your experience is exactly the same as mine. And now they have charged me for the next month's rental after my account has been cancelled. But, hey, what a brilliant business model! - charging people for a service you don't provide - all profit and NO costs. Sadly, may firms in the UK today have the same business strategy.

Had you made sure all discs were actually back in time and you simply didn't select cancel whilst you still had discs to go back and discs in your rental queue and then send the discs in and very close to the next billing day?

You should always clear your rental queue, send discs back in enough time for them to get them back and then with a couple or so days left cancel the service, as you have no discs in the queue they can't send any more out and then they won't bill you for another month.

If you ring them up and complain and you did cancel in time they will refund you.

  • Love Film are rubbish, they apparently have a problem with Isssue '0' Maestro cards and have promised to sort it out and havent for over 4 weeks now, promised to call me back and havent, I have now cancelled. Never had a problem with Amazon.

I've not had any problems with "LoveFilm" well 1 duff DVD out of about 200 i've had from them over the years!

I usually send my old DVD's away Thursday Morning and get new ones Saturday Morning!

The one duff disk i did have was replaced and an additional disk was sent out 2 days after i told them of the error (They didn't wait to get the faulty one back before sending out the replacement!).

I watch a lot of Anime and i've never had a series disk out of order,

But as they saying goes: "Your milage may vary" :D

We signed up to Amazon DVD rental service, and it was excellent. Not completely without a hitch, but the one or two minor problems we had were dealt with quickly and effectively. Then the list was sold on to Lovefilm, and everything went completely to pot from there on. The website is considerably less straightforward, and we have had long delays in despatch, followed by poor responses from customer service. Lack of communication, inadequate information and general incompetence finally led us to attempt to cancel our account - only to find (after three e-mails and a telephone call to the number we were instructed to call to confirm our cancellation) that we would have to go through the whole rigamarole again five days before our next bill was due, unless we were prepared to terminate the account on the spot and lose the four remaining rental credits we had already paid for. Our advice to anyone planning to sign up with Lovefilm would be simple: DON'T!

Been using them for several years under different brands and no problem.

  • I've been using them for ages with hardly any problems, even managed to squeeze more than my fair share of free months with them!

Only once have I had a problem, and it was when they had sent the wrong disc, and then they sent the right disc the next day. I find turnaround quite quick, and usually if I send a disc away on a Monday, I get the next one on Wed.

I signed up for the three month free trial two and a half months ago and so far it's been fantastic. Get my next two DVDs two days after I send the old ones back. And, of course, in true MoneySaving style - I'll be cancelling next week before I have to start paying! Now just need to find the next deal to be a total tart with!

totally useless - cancelled my membership last week after a fairly short time with them.

I had been spoiled - was with Amazon previously - who were superb - then they sold out to that bunch of ******s.

Bit of a pain as I had well over 100 movies on my rental list - ah well

anyone any strong recommendations for an alternative ? A must for me is being able to order my list in exact order of preference - none of this zone type approach lovefilm use - seriously what use is that to anyone ?

I was with lovefilm on a 3month trial and it was simply the best. They sent out 3 dvds at a time and i simply made a ''backup'' of them using DVDShrink; so every couple of days I ended up owning 3 new dvds! Simply great. :j
