Lovefilm DVD rental customers: rate your experience

I've noticed when I'm sending mine and OH's discs back at the same time from the same post box, he'll get his before I get mine (he's a newer customer).

I've been a member of both screenselect and Lovefilm.

I hated them when they were screenselect, discs never got sent out despite having loads on wait, no answer to emails etc. However since Lovefilm came along, its fantastic.

I never have to wait and service is fantastic. Admittedly leaving is difficult but worthwhile as they always send good offers afterwards!

on the whole im pleased with them too. weve had one disc go missing that we returned but i had to email them and fill a form in and then they supposedly sent a game out that never arrived so i had to also query that and resolve it.

we had the admin problem a couple of weeks ago so got a free title. my query with that is it says you get standard amount (in our case 3) and then one extra. for week and a bit that was the case and then suddenly it went back to we were only allowed 3 at home even though we hadnt returned the supposedly free extra title. as it was supposed to be unlimited i find this very unfair.

my other query is reading through this on average how many titles do people receive in a week? i am concerned that we really arent getting that many - we are on the 3 at a time package. some weeks are fine other weeks we wait literally a week for something. ive checked our numbers and it averages out at 8.4 a month which i think is very poor, bearing in mind apart from games for my son that weve only been getting since oct we send most titles back same day or next morning. anyone else get a lot more than this?

Haven't used them for a while now, but managed to get 1 years free rental for 3 discs at a time, using the various trials available.
Never had a problem cancelling or them taking money when they shouldn't have.

After getting my membership transfered from Amazon DVD rental, i became a member of Lovefilm. Time after time the dvd's were scratched or damaged and unwatchable. Some of the films i was really looking forward to seeing were spoilt by this. The alarm bells really started ringing when i looked at my Internet banking account to cancel the Direct Debit and there wasn't one set up.. nor a standing order? After calling my bank i discovered that they were taking payment via a "continuous payment authorization" (look this up on MSE) I have never knowingly used this type of payment and never would as it relies on the retailer to stop taking the payments rather than the account holder, even the bank cant stop it...
Hopefully i will not have any problems with Lovefilm as they seem to be honoring my cancelation request. But this is a warning... never use this type of payment....

even cancelling my debit card ......and getting new one, with a new number.... didnt stop sky continuing to take payments from me!

my bank said the 'continous payment authorisation' was in place.........and still in place........because it was set up before i reported my card as missing/stolen!!

Yes, that is the problem with CPA / CCCA and why people are advised against them.

WARNING!

If you've done the free trial make sure all dvds are back before the day your free contract ends, otherwise you still have to pay! Have just said I will stay on with them until the end of the month otherwise have to effectively pay for the free trial!

I really like being able to utlilise the lovefilm for my son and me but i don't like the system of not using numbers as i can't show which films i want most, apart from high, med and low. i also receive the disc at the same time as i get an email telling me what's coming !!
i did not receive a film and lovefilm did not query this, just got me to report it to the post office at lost.
the only other thing i have found is that some of them are indeed dirty or scratched and it makes them jump about and stall during the film. Overall i have been able to get all my choices eventually, but i was an amazon customer that used a number system and i miss it.
