My OH has just left ILOVE FILM but we will probably rejoin next year.
It took about 3 days for films to be delivered and we have been with them on and off for 2 years.
I think the only problem that can occur is when life becomes busy , we fook 4 weeks to watch 3 films once:o
I'm not sure how it is possible to have 30 discs per month? Maybe it depends what part of the country you are in?
I think ilovefilm are based in Peterborough

Yeah, think it does depend on area, though probably the time the postman delivers the mail.

I live in Birmingham and get our mail early in the morning, not too long after coming in from work, so get time to watch at least 2 of the discs and usually rip one to the HDD to watch at another point in time and then get them in the post for the same day, Love Film get the discs the next day and they send the next 3 out the same day they get the ones I sent in back and I then get them the day after they post them, so easily get 7 - 9 discs per week, the reason why it might be a few less is this is an average and I might have forgot to add some extra discs to my queue, or I decided to hold onto a disc a little longer if it is episodic and therefore takes longer to watch.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

Just a short note to say that I use Lovefilm a lot and think the service they offer is fantastic. The priorities work brilliantly, the series arrive in order (currently on series 5 of Only Fools and Horses...) and when I cancelled a free trial a few years ago I simply did it on the internet completely hassle free.

    Highly recommended.

Lovefilm are great. They always reward you with extra disks if something goes wrong even if it's my own fault. Charging the same for Blu Ray disks is why I joined as to buy them is so expensive.
My only gripe is the way some borrowers treat the disks. Many times I've had disks that won't play properly until I give them a good clean, usually with warm soapy water and a thorough dry (centre to outside) with a dry cloth.

We stopped using Lovefilm a while ago, we had a lot of discs which were dirty/scratched, why do they not check and clean them between rentals? We had one disc which was meant to be in english but was japanese with chinese subtitles! Unwatchable. Also we had at least 3 discs go missing in the post, although we have had exactly the same problem with Swapgame which does video game rental. The package is instantly recognisable as having a disc in it and dishonest people seem to swipe them in transit.

Total agree, I love Lovefilm haha. I think that their service is great and speedy.

But I always agree with the way people treat the disks, twice now with 6 disks i've had grubby disks, they only need a good wipe but still, people should respect stuff that they don't own.
  • I had a long and fairly drawn out argument with Lovefilm a year or two back. I had one pair of DVD's for a long time (i was lazy about returning them at the time. I've firmed up on discipline since then) and without so much as a phone-call or an email they billed me for 'losing' the DVD"s even though I could quote from their own user terms that I was allowed to keep the DVD's as long as I wanted.

I explained to them that circumstances (and admitted lazyness) were why I hadn't returned them yet, and they agreed that if I returned them promptly..... then they wouldn't cancel my account. They also agreed in writing that if I still had the DVD's then they were obviously not lost.

This seemed like a tremendous over-reaction to me, but since I hadn't in fact lost their DVD's and was offering to return them I made a refund of the incorrect penalty upon their receipt of the DVD's a condition of resolving this issue.

About a week after sending this letter I received a call from a very rude fellow who informed me curtly that I could keep the DVD's, and that my account was cancelled as of today.

About 8 months later I started receiving email from Lovefilm telling me they missed me and wanted me back, even while my Smallville season 3, disc 2 and 'girl next door' dvd's gathered dust on a shelf.

To say I was unsatisfied is an understatement.

If they had just popped off an email or let me know in any way, shape or form that they were concerned about the length of time I had the DVD's, I would have been more than happy to pop them back in the mail to them. But to go straight to hitting me with penalties? Without so much as a notification? After less than a month?

I considered that unacceptable business practice.

I will never again do business with Lovefilm, or any of their subsidiary concerns.
Proud to have dealt with my debts!

We had a Tomb Raider disc for quite a while as hubby was playing it. They sent him a 'reminder' for it by email. He still made sure he finished the game before he sent it back though, because as you say, there's no time limit.

  • I have been a member of Love Film for just over two years that was until I checked my email and found out that they have cancled my membership. The reason my membership was cancled is because of a currupt postman that kept hold of my dvds and mail. Love Film knew about the problem but instead of using common sense after the postman was nabbed they decided to get rid of me.

As a general rule of thumb i'd give them 6 out of 10.

I have switched between LoveFilm and blockbusters over the last few years and found blockbusters to be MUCH better then LoveFilm as far as service goes and turnaround of discs but LoveFilm has a much better selection of films.

When i first used LoveFilm it was on a months trial and they sent the discs out very quick, i'd post back to them on Monday they would get discs on Tuesday and new discs would be sent out the very same day and Wednesday i'd get them as well, but as time goes on you notice they hold off sending you discs longer and longer, I've had over 50 titles in my list and have waiting OVER a week to get another disc despite being on 3 disc at once unlimited rental, so given they were screwing me over IMO I left.

However several months later there was a code going round for another good freebie deal so i signed up for that but this time using my girlfriends credit card and the same thing happened again superb surface to start with then it tailed off getting the usual "Dispatching Soon" and waiting days for the DVD's to be sent out, so again cancelled after a while.

Nowadays I keep getting letters from LoveFilm for both my girlfriend and I offering offers now and then 3 months free/3 months for the price of 1 etc, I take them up when i have a need for some flicks.

The quality of the discs is ok as a rule, if i rent for 3 months using 3 discs at once unlimited i guess i'd get 3 or 4 faulty one's.

IMO LoveFilm are OK so long as you go in with your eyes open and be aware there is no such thing as "Unlimited" with then as they dictate how much they send you, as for returning disc i always send back a week before any offer is due to finish by Special Del and empty my dvd list that way they cannot try to wiggle;e out of thing like i have seen them do to others in the past.
