My experience of Lovefilm has been good with turnaround - they process the returns and dispatches quickly, but I've had quite a lot of faulty disks through. When I report it to them I just get a pre-written e-mail each time apologising, but never any compensation or credit to my account.

I have been switched to iLoveFilm from Amazon also. I'm on a fixed number of discs per month package.

I have had 1 disc out of 4 discs that would not play (only four discs in total have come from iLoveFilm so far).

Reported the problem and received an apology email and a replacement copy in the post next working day.
NB. If you're on a fixed number/month package (or possibly any other), any faulty discs need to be reported on their website (as was the case with Amazon), and check replacement required, AFAIA just ticking the envelope will not trigger a replacement copy being sent.

Turnaround has been good, (better than Amazon in the last few months!), and is probably as good as Amazon was before they decided to sell off their rental business.

Also received an email from Amazon informing me that I would still receive my rental discount, but it has dropped from 10% to 5%.
Is this the same for all other former Amazon customers?

I never liked the look of the Amazon service, a lot of money for only a few discs, yet with Love Film and their affiliated sites and Blockbusters, you can have loads of discs, they just send them as fast as you can send them back - easily get 7 - 9 discs per week.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

I'm glad that things have changed, but ca. 2yrs ago, my experience of so called 'unlimited' packages led me TO Amazon.

I used WHS rental, which was/is 'powered by' LoveFilm. First three months I was getting a good turnaround on an 'unlimited' package. After that, turnaround dropped dramatically down to maybe 2 discs a week. Complained and received the usual, "we send them out when they are booked in", response. --- Strange that the postal service appeared to have a problem ONLY with mail coming from / going to, them!!

After reading that LOTS of people were having similar problems with most / all rental companies, I decided to reduce the cost of my rental plan and at least know that I was going to get 6 discs per month. This, in turn, made me more selective about the discs that I would choose to rent. (Not enough time in the day as it is!)

It appears that maybe they have changed their policy regarding "throttling" accounts that get through "too many" discs per month (which is as it should be!), also the six disc per month package is no longer available, so it might be worth opting for an unlimited package.

I've been using unlimited packages for several years, a lot lot more than 2 years (though I have had some rest periods now and then).

LoveFilm have been horrendous since they took over from Amazon. I am trying to watch Boston Legal series 3, and they keep sending the disks in the wrong order; and then something else altogether. Never had ANY problems with Amazon - now cancelling my LoveFilm account.

Once it shows it has been returned, wait until the night when there are no phone staff on and click to cancel your membership.

wow, great! I didn't think about that - thought you had to call anyway
    :j

well I'm on my 2nd trial with lovefilm and never had a problem - quick turnaround, etc
so having never had a problem I can say anything about the customer service!

  • I was with amazon and had no problems. Lovefilm has been totally rubbish. They have sent me entirely the wrong discs, those that are right are not in order. They are helpful when you call and offer extra discs to make up but I have waited on one for over three weeks so hardly worth it!!!!

I am also cancelling - complete crap!

Your experience is exactly the same as mine. And now they have charged me for the next month's rental after my account has been cancelled. But, hey, what a brilliant business model! - charging people for a service you don't provide - all profit and NO costs. Sadly, may firms in the UK today have the same business strategy.
