December 2022: The Turtles do the Cha Cha Cha

Today I nearly got up at 6am and baked lunchbox sausage rolls, but after wondering why I was so tired, realised that it was Saturday, so went back to sleep. Hooray! Did some posting of gifts for foreign family, then did the big food shop and accidentally bought a chest of drawers in a charity shop for £35. Came home, unloaded, put away, DH had made curry for lunch, and I have wasted the afternoon watching football, cooking supper, and watching England lose the football ⚽⚽. In the interval I put all my clothes away in the C.o.Drawers, and swapped the huge TV in my bedroom for a smaller one - it is mostly used as a dab radio anyway. Moved a bit of furniture around the place, and know exactly where the mirror 🪞 is going. Oh, and did laundry 🧺. Now I will just have to fold it and return it.
On the plus side, all my clothes will now fit in the drawers, I have gone from 3 drawers to 6.
Gratitudes - central heating, two lovely young men offering to carry chest of drawers into the house for me ( I declined but it was lovely of them to offer!), my Nissan-Micra and being able to put the back seats down, and for it not raining!! Started to feel a little bit fa-la-la with a cold nose and only four and a half school days left. 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄⛄⛄⛄⛄4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Hi Turtles,
Still on NSD# 5, but I am alright with that. Had a hopeful end of the day at work yesterday. Today I was up and out into the sparkling sunshine to get bread from a bakery that I wanted to try, an hour's walk there and then back along the seafront - really beautiful. Went to the fishmonger, had my haircut, and then went to a local visiting farm shop at the back of the park. I am all topped up with delicious, nutritious food. I have lamb neck and heart in the slow cooker to make soup tomorrow.
I was thinking I would get a coffee whilst I walked in Brighton on my gathering of lovely food, but I didn't bother...oh how I have changed.
Grateful for; the shimmering sea and sunshine, a nice chat with my hairdresser, the lovely food in the fridge, and 3 cinnamon tea.
I love Haggis too, I have fairly regularly in Jan and Feb in particular.3-month emergency fund (Cash ISA & PBs): £4744/ £6,000

Good evening 🌕
Thank you everyone for you kind support. Extra big thanks to grandmanerd for your lovely insightful post about your own ups and downs; I could relate to *a lot* of what you said... and there was a lot of good sound advice in there too that I can adopt. I've always been a pretty empathic kinda guy, easily pick up on others' emotional stuff - and on top of my own stuff, sometimes it weighs me down. I am very careful now who, how and when I give myself/my time to. I definitely limit exposure to the media and things I can't directly influence. My diet has definitely slipped <he writes after just demolishing 1/4 of a New York vanilla cheesecake haha!> and that's a priority for next year. I bought a magazine today on 'Gut Health' (which hid the cheesecake and bags of crisps in my basket haha) which I will look through this next week. Have spoken to my family and they know I am starting on new medications and will keep an eye.
Thank you again. You're all amazing. Has been nice reading how everyone is going about their days, and preparing for Christmas, and hearing about the things people are are grateful for in their lives.
Today I am grateful for:
1) The support and advice from all of you on here
2) My family, and the people that care for and support Mum
3) Time out from work to get myself better
Today was a spend day. NSD total = 7/15

Thank you all for the birthday wishes, I had a good day & fun night on my staff do - us someone secretly paid for my food & drinks & I've still not discovered who yet!! Felt really good in my CS outfit & my hair turned out well too 🥰
Hugs @abundant1972, I hope the diagnosis helps you move forwards now, & when you know you're having a bad day, you take time out to relax & be kind to yourself x
Hope you're feeling a bit better today @grandmanerd, well done on all the achievements this week. I bet you keep smiling whenever you think or see your new wall & clothes posts!
Didn't do yoga yesterday or today, but haven't beaten myself up about it,have hardly missed any days in 2 months. Woke early, but meant I could have a catch up with mum 😊 caught the bus together, as she went to work. DS3 was waiting outside the shop when we arrived, ready to help her. He came down the street with me & helped me choose birthday & Xmas presents for his g/f. Met a friend late morning, we walked 5 miles (quite chilly & rain showers, bit saw a few rainbows), then we looked at the Xmas displays in the garden centre, before going for lunch (her treat). Disappointed that the hot drinks & toasted sandwich were served in paper cups & plates! It was tasty though. Veggie haggis, caramelised onion & cheddar 😋 I collected my car, then shopped in L1dl & T0sco (used m £20 off voucher), then brought DS & GF home before she went to work. Put shopping away & washed the dishes. Had some lovely compliments today really made my heart sing!
Grateful for a lovely birthday, birthday wishes, lovely compliments, my daily Xmas jumper posts (making lots of folk smile), a great walk & catch up, secret food payers, my family & friends & you lot 😘Use it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

thriftylass said:@DawnW We love haggis, but for some reason only have it once a year on Burns night as a main. Occasionally we have a slice with a cooked breakfast or as Balmoral chicken.
This one has been in the freezer for over a year - it arrived in a meat box. I had to google how to cook it, so wish me luck!

@thriftylass Google said either that, or wrap in foil and bake for an hour. Decided to do the bake option, in my Ninja thingy. I'm not feeling the love, but will do lots of mashed potato, swede and onion gravy, so will just have a little bit of the haggis with that. OH is looking forward to it though.Managed to condense the contents of my large and small freezers into the large freezer only, and have turned off the small one. The small saving in electricity won't make up for having to run the CH all the time, but better than nothing!Woke up to snow here, just a dusting really, but it is still snowing on and off. I have priced up the items I intended to take to the shop where I rent my sales unit tomorrow, but I am not working tomorrow, and won't go if it is still icy and snowy - it can wait till another day!I was surprised how much the dog loved the snow, given that he doesn't 'do' rain under any circumstances. He was very enthusiastic to go out for a walk in it this morning. It made me laugh to see him charging about. He is a tiny Yorkie x Chihuahua and looked so funny9
