NSD 5 (I think) today. I was working all day and spent nothingIt was jolly cold though, so the heating has been on.We finished up the batch cooked meals I made at the weekend, so something simple like pesto pasta will have to do for tomorrow, as I am working again.Tomorrow will be a spend day as I need to buy a birthday card and wrapping paper for my little grandson, who is going to be 5
I already have his present.

Goodness, the morning was glorious, the view from the train was spectacular.
I hung out with some people at work, done lots of work, but lots still to do for sure. Went for a 30minute walk and went down to the Thames.
NSD # 5 - I am a third of the way there.
Grateful for the frost, pink sky, mist, and the big buoyant full moon, prepped food, the sunshine on the water, coffee, call with my daughter and my hot water bottle.

I've had a very lazy day (much needed). The coughing has improved but going downhill rapidly in the last hour. I will be sleeping sitting up (well I'm hoping to sleep). Nothing much worked this morning so nothing strenuously done - wrote a 15 page letter to go in a card. Ventured downstairs and looked outside the door but nope - taking 2 books back to the library isn't worth risking falling and hurting myself.
Lots of future plans but I think what I most want at the moment is simplicity, a sense of order and a calmer and more homely house. So I may stay home for a while, process laundry (won't do the sheets as they can't go out at the mo) but I have spaces to hang clothes and will use any rags to start cleaning (3 were used inside the fridge today and a lot of the gunge came off - I did tackle it a few weeks ago so whatever I did then has obviously continued to work).
Will move the boxes of non alcoholic wine under the stairs (they're a bit taller than the boxes of records), use one of the shelves I made from the wardrobe sides to go across them, should be able to squeeze a couple of boxes under there and the shelf will accommodate what's already there (mostly their gadgets). Record cataloguing will restart next year. Might fit a third box in at the far end if I can find enough small spaces for my tools.
Can go through the clean pots and remove any I really want will go in my room (they can take their pick of any that are left) and some of the small plates from the boys' dad's can go to the cs. Found more bits in their fridge today (they might actually have been mine but have been in there for so long) and planning on mostly use ups and a small food shop sometime (will be delivered). I know there are a few spaces in the front room and have been sizing up juggling the furniture on one wall to fit more in. If the other 3 drawer filing cabinet comes through from the kitchen I might fit all the rest of the chinchilla stuff in (there's a bag of hay near the front door).
Everything to be done in small slow stages (I am ill and don't want to make things worse). 3 use up toiletries finished yesterday and the day before and another 3 or 4 before the end of the week (10 altogether), I have ahd to break out the small Christmas pack I bought for myself. Of all the toiletries mum had stashed away that I've worked through during the pandemic, only one was so wonderful that I wrote down what it was called (some everyday things I already knew about). I've looked but not found it anywhere and then it appeared in some of the Christmas packs. I only paid £4 for a shower creme (just finished using one Beloved had rejected), this rose and argon oil one and a lip salve (that will be in use by weekend).
I'll gather books and other items for the cs, children's books and other items for the food bank, wrap presents, write cards and letters and just potter around making things a 'little bit better' where I can. Food will be simple and mostly use ups. Writing a list of things we need (food and other).
Grateful for time to recover (fell asleep at 5 pm), a pre-ordered book arriving, good food and finally finishing one of the letters (several previous attempts).9 -
Good evening 🌕
Quiet day today. Off to a slow start - but got myself out for a walk at least. Had a bit of a duvet day. Not a whole lot to report.
Today I am grateful for:
1) A lovely bright crisp frosty day
2) The squirrels, ducks, geese and robins on my walk
3) Streaming TV

Good morning,
finally a gratitude, haven't done one in ages- great mood boosted by sunshine
- feeling awake for a change
- snuggles with cats this morning
Slow day at work today so I will have time to do a few private things. I just finished a basic 4 day teaching course and decided to go for a post-grad cert in academic practice in higher ed. It's a two year course starting from next October and luckily it's free for current employees of this uni (otherwise £10k+ for foreigners like me). Fingers crossed I get in. It would help massively. I don't lecture but take care of summer and honours students and the whole department had some fair challenging times with them (maybe generational, due to being in lockdown for two years or just entitlement culture). But I would like to learn how to deal with this better to give them and us a better experience.
Anyway, lovely crisp day here. Will pop out for a walk in a minute.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/2510 -
Congratulation @thriftylass that sounds right up your academic street. Education is never wasted, especially when you can get it for free from your employer. Go you!! I have everything crossed for your success. Nothing ventured, nothing gained and all that.
