I have a lovely new wall and 2 washing line posts. Meanwhile I tackled a mountain of washing up (including a bagful that came down from their room last weekend with lots of dried on stuff), bagged up at least 5 loads of washing (to be done when my washing line posts are firm), collected lots of rubbish and recycling and planted 5 trees (which meant lots of smaller pots emptied, several cardboard boxes used for mulch layers, ran out of squares of weed proof membrane so cut up a large builders' bag to make 5 more). Large bucket full of weeding but now very tired and aching.
Builder and his son were wonderful - both worked hard all day and it's freezing cold out there (literally - couldn't dig into my first large pot of soil this morning and have been breaking ice off buckets of water). Gave him extra money as he has done so many extras to the work/ payment we'd agreed on. Digging and cutting the ivy roots out myself would have taken days if not weeks. Have taken his phone number in case there's anything else that I need doing.
Niece was fine about me cancelling (not sure she'd seen the messages I'd left later). There's lots to clear away in the back but will see how I feel in the morning. I could do another full domestic day.
Grateful for my bed, good workmen, getting things done, planting trees, knowing when it's time to call it a day and rest.10 -

apple_muncher said:" Don't look back, you're not going that way"Thanks for that @apple_muncher I am a shocker for brooding over past mistakes.NSD 4 for me today (I think). Only went out for a quick dog walk this morning - dog decided he wasn't going far in these temperatures, he practically dragged me homeIt is really cold, and I had to put the heating on at lunch time. It is off again now, as the stove is alight, with kettles on top for 'free' hot water. I have to work tomorrow, and the shop is freezing, so have made the most of keeping warm today!

Grandmanerd, so so so pleased you have a new wall and a sturdy washing line. Those jobs have been a long time in the making!!!Today I am grateful for my counsellor, for getting a good gym sesh done before cracking on with my marking and report writing, for other people's lit up houses, for strong coffee and 85% chocolate, for shaving my legs and feeling so much better for doing it.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!9

Worked in the office today. It was Christmas potluck lunch… a sure way to get me in. Food was delicious and I ate far too much. My contribution was a big batch of vegetable chow mein. Not a scrap of a noodle was left which made me feel secretly pleased with myself. 😂I saw a post from a woman on a local forum at the start of this week. She works with women and children escaping domestic abuse. She reached out asking for a few specific items for a particular family - a mother and her two children. I dropped off some children’s bedding, books, and tops to her house this evening.Grateful today for chat with a parent while we walked our DSs to school, for chat with colleagues in the office, a fantastic lunch, a warm home, and for a good family.

Great stuff @grandmanerd you have worked so hard!
@apple_muncher, I am definitely not going back into debt - 3 times was enough, thank you.

Very grateful for: getting to Yoga on the 5.40 train, food prepped in the fridge, having some time in the office looking across the London roof tops at sunset, hanging out with my boss and colleague, coffee and my fountain pen.
