Done the food bank run - children's books, crafty bits, useful items (they were handing out what I'd taken of mum's salt stash - for keeping paths clear - before I left. They gave me flowers, yellow roses with lilac freesia. Dropped the spectacles for vision aid off at the optician's on my way and had remembered there was a post box in front of the church that hosts the food bank, so posted my 5 stamped cards. Crossed to the bus station and went through to the hairdresser's - I have an appointment at 4 pm Friday. Then I went to G r e g g s for hot food, a sandwich (will add a grain salad that's in the fridge) and a chocolate eclair (think I last had one before the pandemic) then came home for a shower. I wanted to get to the food bank as soon as possible so hadn't had breakfast and only a cat lick wash.
Back home around 11.30 am, clean and snuggled under the bedclothes with a towel to make sure all my important little places get properly dry and a shawl wrapped around my top half. I need to strap my left ankle up - it's nagging badly and I don't want it to get any worse. Lots to do but will settle for a bit first and then make cautious steps. I know there are more things for the food bank (will be the other one at the other church on Thursday now) and the charity shops but I wanted to get the things out of the far corner first. I discovered all sorts of interesting bits, obviously put away because they weren't needed immediately. Going to try to remove one of the long shelves (repurposed sides of the wardrobe) but will have some fun first.
Grateful for flowers, hot food, getting a hair appointment.9 -

Afternoon allI think I am up to NSD 6 as of yesterday. Today wasn't, as I did the weekly shop, and tomorrow won't be, because I need some more Christmas cards. I forgot to get some today, annoyingly. Not sure if they will get to the recipients on time due to the postal strlkes (my fault, should have got it sorted earlier, I have been putting it off), but hey! I posted some today using free stamps from the Postal Survey.Still very cold and icy, snow still lying about. We were intending to travel to see DD1 tomorrow, but have put it off till next week, when hopefully the roads will be better.8

Today I am grateful for the car battery charging up and working, for a mad day at work but one where I managed to fit everything in, for dc having a recovery day at home with DH, for finding my phone, for 85% chocolate!

Like everywhere else, it’s bluedy freezing here. Very icy and I’ve just been out salting our path and the pavement… feel sorry for outside workers… posties, the folk who deliver groceries and parcels, and all the lollipop ladies and gentlemen.Still on NSD 1… the activities are in full flow. Stuck to budget so far. But tired, sooo tired… I’ll need to sleep the whole of January.Grateful for an indoor job, for the people doing the deliveries, and for a quick and easy dinner thanks to a batch-cooked bolognaise sauce from the freezer.

Evening turtlesNSD 6 today. Still at my parents' house. The heating broke this morning (impeccable timing) but luckily an engineer was able to come and fix it. I woke up early because of the cold and couldn't get back to sleep. Did some gentle yoga instead.Haven't done much today apart from watch TV and take the dog for a slow plod. My back is sore, I think because I haven't moved much.We went out for dinner but dad paid. Now am settled in on the sofa wearing my pyjamas.Think I'm coming down with a cold as have a runny nose and keep sneezing. Hopefully it won't be a bad one! Heading home tomorrow, hoping the roads won't be too bad!Almost forgot, my mum told me to pop my clothes on top of the woodburner to warm them up earlier and they got burned
really annoyed as I'd only had the jumper for about 3 weeks and it's now got a hole in it, I'll buy a new one and keep the broken one for when I'm cleaning... but still, very annoying...

Evening Turtles - i hope you are staying warm and toasty.

@mothernerd I quite like walking at night, but not to avoid death by coughs and colds, but I think my Step -mother is in that camp. I still have to test for COVID when I go to visit dad. I resent the £2 for the test to be honest!
@beanielou I hope you get to physio soon
@apple_muncher 85% choccie? yum.
@lcc86 what a shame about your new jumper. I put my clothes in my bed with the hot water bottle to warm them up.
I have been really missing smoking this week, it's been 8 months, but I still, miss it and I swear I could still smoke 10 in a row.
I always used to write my reports with a glass of wine and several ciggies to get me through the dyslexic drama. Got ready to write one this evening and my heart sank a little bit. But my hair looks nice after the cut on Saturday, and I had a really amazing appointment today, and a call with my old supervisor, she has been off sick - Leukemia, she is retiring at the end of the financial year.
Grateful for, really making a difference in a client's life today, my health, not being in debt, my hot water bottle(yes again) and getting out to the park - a bit crunchy and slippy and white.

Hugs to all that need them (even if it's just to keep warm!). Hope you can rearrange your appointment @beanielou. Take care x
Very icy this morning & we've had snow falling this afternoon/evening, so will be treacherous tomorrow... Did yoga, etc, cooked some rice to go with last night's leftovers, & polished my shoes. Left for work a bit earlier, as went the long way. Should've come home that way too, but wanted to post things at the post office. Drove very slowly & made it back ok.
Did the ironing & watched TV with DS1. After tea I cut out fabric for a new coat lining, then soaked in the bath with my book.
Grateful for a 5 year old delivering me a card & wishing me Merry Christmas (not always easy to understand his chatter), inside breaktimes to avoid the icy playground, getting home safelyUse it up, wear it out

Finally took one of my 10 batches of random veg soup out of the freezer that I made months ago and for lunch to work. Added some cut up bockwurst (bit like a fat wiener) and it is soooo yummy. Was dreading eating it as the colour was this weird khaki brown but it turned out really nice.
Not much else to report here. Despite the heating being on it's like 16-18C in the house (in the heated rooms!) Not looking forward to paying over £200 for that (probably way more actually) again next monthDEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/259 -
Today I am grateful for dc continuing to improve, for getting into school and spending time with the colleague I never see, for chattingwith people I like, for dh who is a star, for the peacefulness of the ice and snow on the trees and fields.
