It's nearly halfway through the month and I know I need to do a check on how my original plans are progressing. Anyone else???
NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!10 -
@DrCarrie I usually do use a hot water bottle, I've no idea what possessed us to think the woodburner would be a good idea! My mum actually sent me some money to replace it, I told her she didn't need to as it was my fault but it's definitely a nice gesture.I bought some premium bonds last night after reading Martin's email. My mum and had have loads so I thought I'd take the plunge. Will try and top it up every month.Another lazy day today, drove home from my parents' this afternoon, it was snowing half of the way so I'm glad I left when I did as I wouldn't have wanted to be stuck in it.Today has been a NSD, but not a healthy day and no workout. But I'll get back on my wagon tomorrow now that I'm home.11

Hi turtles,
I feel like I’m slipping away from the December challenge so am clinging on a bit!
Yesterday I managed to wrap ds presents and sort them all out. Visited my parents and went out for tea with a friend (presence not presents). Really enjoyed it but amazed how many people were out for a Tuesday!! I had saved money from my £200 bank switch to pay for this so it felt like a freebie.
Today was ds school play. He wasn’t supposed to have a part and just in the choir but on Friday he was asked to be the backdrop PowerPoint button presser (technical engineer). Then on Monday he was asked to do a small part (4 lines) as the original person was off poorly he had no rehearsal and did brilliantly. Really proud of him. He also had to play a pretend trumpet, so now he wants to learn to play a trumpet and his teacher is making enquiries for it!!
Took him to our local cafe for an iced bun as a treat for stepping in and doing so well.
DH is full of cold (negative for covid). It’s proper got hold of him and he’s in bed so watching footy on my own.
Had a quick budget check and I seem to have a discrepancy of £90 as in I have too much left after the remaining bills go out. I will have a proper look later or tomorrow.
should really be wrapping gifts tonight might leave until tomorrow.Still on NSD 6/15 but should have a few coming up.
Its so cold here. Heating is on longer than I’d like but I’m not going to be cold!Lightbulb moment - 17/08/2017 £17,033. Current CC debt £0.00 DFD 31/7/24 🥳. Member #8 of Fiver Friday Challenge £175/£2609 -
Didn't exercise this morning. One of the cats came into our room at 5am, lay on my chest & placed her paw on my face for over half an hour. By the time I nodded off again, the alarm went off! Got dressed quickly & shovelled the snow off the drive, then put salt on it. My right buttock & leg were shaking most of the day in protest! 🤣 A very slow drive to work.
Was with a different pupil, so was able to watch the Nativity & performance of the school (hadn't seen any of it previously). Then my usual pupil went home so got to spend the afternoon with one of my besties putting all the costumes away & clearing the hall. Had a good chat & I managed not to injure myself moving big items (I was like one of the chuckle brothers!!) Took DS3 & G/F back to ours. Watched a Christmas film together, then took her home.
Grateful for seeing the performance, time with my friend this afternoon, that we have a good family home lifeUse it up, wear it out

Good morning turtles and happy belated birthday to @thrifty!
Munich was lovely, very snowy and it was nice to be taken around by people who knew the area. I ate to excess but managed not to drink to excess!
I was with my friend and her parents who lived in the area previously. @Thriftylass I’m not surprised you miss the snow rules, everything ran perfectly there despite the weather.I have just caught up with all your posts so will write a longer post later and update as @apple suggests.

Morning,
I appear to be out of synch in my routine - maybe its the WFH all week due to the rail strikes.
Anyway, I am on NSD#8. I put my fuel repayment in my savings account, my gas smart meter thing has gone on the blink, the electric one is working but not the gas
Grateful for getting out every day even if it's not been for as long as i would like, veg box delivery, and 5 days left at work for the year.

My DS's school finishes tomorrow at 12.00, so I am starting work at 12.30 instead of 4.30
Oh well
, I will at least see them in the mornings for the rest of the year. So my plan is to make more of an effort with breakfast, and possibly elevensies with a latte or hot chocolate before going in to work - who ...... have extended my contract until the end of January - it is only 2 weeks extra, but it is 2 weeks extra in the pay packet in January!! So I am rather jolly because not everyone was asked to stay on.
So that is my good news for Wednesday. I am employed for the whole of January 2023.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Good morning 🌞
Apologies for 2-day absence - pretty much stayed in bed for the last few days due to feeling drowsy and literally no get up and go. I read that symptoms can get worse before they get better... so maybe that was it. Anyway - today I feel like rejoining the land of the living, so fingers crossed the worst is behind me.
On the plus side - I bagged 2 x NSDs and barely ate anything so still have stuff in. On the downside - I haven't done many of my habits as felt so lousy - but I'm giving myself a break and paying myself anyway! It can be statutory sick pay haha. Is that cheating? Lol.
Nice to catch up on everything that's been going on and how everyone is coping with the cold. Although it's been -7 here this morning, not had any snow since that initial flurry last week.
The last few days I have been grateful for:
1) My little apartment that kept me snug
2) Heat on demand and hot water
3) The internet and technology
Yesterday = NSD number 10. Might need to pop out for a few basics later.

Sorry for no check in yesterday, it was 1/4 to eleven when I trudged wearily up the stairs. Lots of rubbish out, plumber came with the gas safety certificate so more money out, brought my 3 orange trees in and they are on the living room windowsill - they might get a bit of tinsel thrown at them but not sure I can be bothered.Clean clothes and 4 boxes of toilet paper taken upstairs (put away on the shelves behind the bathroom door this morning.
Had a tin of soup and a ready meal then took an enormous bag of books to the charity book shop. Exhausted and none of the benches were free so sat for a while in one of the bookshop's lovely comfortable and supportive armchairs.Went back through the market snd now have a radar key. Also bought a pack of foil roasting trays - I could do with a new roasting tin but not sure it's worth it if I'm only doing a roast 3 times a year. Went in Boots for a meal deal (I have enough points for a free one) but they only had one very unappetising white bread sandwich, so no purchase. Dropped off 2 Christmas cards on the way home.
Despite my triple layer support bandage, my ankle was really painful. Wanted to do a couple of things downstairs as I didn't think I'd be coming back down once I got up there. The EA phoned but the phone cut out (needed charging). So came upstairs, charged the phone and the laptop and managed to email her. When I'd recovered a bit, I went downstairs in search of more food and drinks and di nearly 6 hours of working through records. So tired but 4 boxes (approx 300) discs are now neatly filed in 4 boxes (one needs more sorting - just put all the leftover bits in when DS3 came down, he puts them in odd places and restarting is harder) are now away in the cube shelves that hold the tv.
Really don't want to do anything this morning so maybe I won't. I have pulled up everything from the floor in one corner - loads of paper slid off the bed in the middle of the night and I was too tired to even attempt to stop it. I'm yawning so maybe a little nap is on the cards (and I'll wake up energised and full of the joys of spring).
Grateful for getting things done (for the last hour I wanted to stop but just kept going, trying to get as much stuff as possible nailed down), for easy food, for my bed.
