hello fellow old stylers - I dont usually post on the daily thread - but I occasionally read through

I hope you dont mind me gatecrashing but I have had a wonderful breakthrough at home

yesterday my husband ate asparagus stalks which I had chopped up and put in a chicken pie - he knew it was there and didnt pick the bits out!!! result!!! (i think it confused him cos there was some spring onion stalks in there too which he DOES eat and he wasnt sure what was what lol)

and not only that - he is actually prepared to eat the left overs tonight!!!

normally he wont have the same meal two nights running cos he;s so darn fussy - but he liked the pie so much that we are having it again this evening.

    whoooooooooooohooooooooooooo!

I am so excited I could do a cartwheel if I could do one ;)

    :D

  • my boss bought for our christmas hampers really expensive golden shiny wrapping paper, off each sheet there some left enough to wrap a book in. Now I don't think he will use it - do you think I should ask if I can have it?
Would hate to see it wasted!

just got a reply of my wanted ad on freecycle for a knitting machine - am on a mission to knit woolen blankets etc.
  • Hi again,

BLAIRWEECH I know what you mean. I do the majority of housework and all the DIY. If I left it up to my OH it would be a disaster, practical skills in life have really passed him by.

TATTYCATH sorry to hear your sad news.

Hugs to all who need them and well done FROGGA in loosing so much weight.

Have actually done some studying:j .

Also made bolognese sauce for dinner on Thursday as I'm on an early, carrot and lentil soup and the most amazing mince pies, using a recipie I got from this thread. I don't think they're going to make it to the freezer:drool: .

Off out tonight to a belly dancing evening with a friend and her Mum. Her Mum is driving so we can both have a drink:beer: .

Have a good evening :A xxxx

Afternoon all (or is it evening ?)

At last -christmas decs all up ! Presents being collected from friends and replaced by theirs to us (still can't see computer room floor !)
Tinsel and green bits all over the front room carper.............hoover tomorrow I think. Now have to try and think of how to make frozen turkey escalopes and chips a but more interesting ! Being away for the weekend has its drawbacks.................have to live off whats in the freezer till Friday and brain wouldn't kick start into doing much more than switching on the oven and chip fryer ! Still, we're getting there................feeling bit more festive now lights are on the tree and a bit less 'bah humbug' ..................:j

Best wishes to anyone suffering in any way.

    Must return to turkey escaplopes..............................

welcome vanoonoo, well done for getitng your DH to eat asparagus, my DD has just eaten hollandaise, which I said was a cheese sauce, she ate the lot said it was lovely :rotfl: .

I cooked some salmon fillets in the oven, cooked some pasta, flaked the salmon in the pasta, and mixed in the holandaise, it was yummy, and very easy, a very quick supper.

frenchmaid, ask for the wrapping paper, it will probably get chucked otherwise xx

PP I'm hoping she'll move on of her own accord in January, I do keep telling her when she does something I don't like, unfortunately she has the memory span of a geriatric gnat, she just forgets everything I tell her, I would think she was being deliberately difficult, but if you met her you would realise that she doesn't have the brain power to be that difficult.
Last day at work tomorrow, we're having a buffet lunch & everyone takes something in, I'm making a loaf as my contribution. Tomorrow evening I'm going out with other staff members for a 'From Russia with Love' event for course meal, with caberet & dancing, there is a minibus booked for 1am. I'm driving so I'll be heading home as soon as I've eaten, hubby has a days work & I have to be up at 5!!!
    Have a good evening everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Well I have done as much as I can. Sitting room and dining area has been scrubbed within an inch of its life...............I have just taken the oven shelves down to the kitchen, they have been soaking in the bath all day, nice and clean now.

I went into the attic and got the Christmas stuff down, put the ladder away then discovered that I had only brought 3 boxes down.........the sitting room floor is covered with stuff we are taking down tomorrow.............3 bags full plus a trolly load of saucepans and pressure cooker.

I forgot where I had put the mincepies, searched the house, eventually found them in the cupboard next to the sink. The coldest cupboard in the kitchen. The turkey is almost defrosted, bacon rolls done, just need cooking, trifle has custard and whipped cream on it, just have to do the whirls and put the raspberries on it.

The tables are all set out ready, just have the cloths to put on, its looking good....by the time we have the various bits and bobs on, it will look very festive.

OH has gone to his bowls AGM. he will come back as Mr President with a heavy chain to wear on official occasions...............

Right I am off, its time I set my sights on the box of chocolates that came my way yesterday.

I will not have time to post tomorrow, we are off to DD's to see the children and pick up some bits after the junketting at lunch time......have just found out that a very old friend has died, so it looks as though we will be going to a funeral on Friday......how sad just before Christmas.............

    Cherrio folks........................

Have been dashing around and picked up DD from uni at the weekend.

After nagging for days DH finally drove me to Lidl and did a huge shop.

Noticed a lot of things had gone up in price but consoled myself with the thought that it was still cheaper than my local supermarket.

DD has just heard her new job starts in January so (fingers crossed) we will have the whole family for Christmas and the New Year!

Sorry that help is being difficult and hope that things get better.

    Hester

I can see why almost any efforts to help the lodger get away is a good idea!

This may be a stupid idea but could you study to be an I.T. teacher if you are having to teach her?

Have soaked some peas and will make soup in the slow cooker tomorrow........

Lidl have 40% off gammon and bacon just now - hope this helps someone.

    Hugs to all.

We have to be so careful now he has to be muzzled when out etc.... he should have been put to sleep really, if it was anyone he had bitten then he would have been......my eyes are welling up now because he is a real sweetie with me, like me and my shadow!!
