I initially deposited £10 as a tester as stated on my on line application. Have since deposited 10k with no problems. Impressed with the deposit & withdrawal times, both instant.1

Presuming you said less than £125000 then you can double it. The maximum is £250000. The question was so they had had some steer on how much cash they were attracting, clearly they had a target say £100m once they think they’ve hit it they’ve closed the offer to new applicants. Put what you like into it.2

These reviews clearly show how bad Santander's system and customer support is. I just wish I had checked these reviews before I opened an account and began the very painful process of dealing with Santander's appalling customer support.
The recent problems some people experienced with their savings account applications are odd. Some people, incl myself, had their account opened in a couple of minutes. Those not so lucky should consider raising a complaint.6 -

I didn't get off to a great start with them with the issue with the app locking me out and having to start the whole registering process again, but I think that was my own fault and I did get through to them within 10 to 15 minutes, which I thought was fine, and the man was very nice and helpful. My only worry with them is some reports about them being quite quick to block transfers and then it taking a while to get them released. I have to say that I'm currently with Virgin Money and so far haven't had a single payment or transfer blocked, though you do have to go through several security stages and steps on the app. I'm hoping that it won't be too much of an issue with Santander either but the reports seem to be they are rather more zealous.0

Both of us up and running now, I got the second letter today and the account online clearly says 2.75%, we've both linked to our main Lloyds saver and transferred in both direction. Time to get Marcus emptied into Santander now.

To be honest I think all banks are pretty ropey. I've had trouble with HSBC & CHASE recently (documented in another thread), Joined TSB for the bribe and they have security checked every transaction so far and I've spent hours on the phone sorting it, joined Yorkshire (for the 2.5%) and they gave me a 10-figure account number but there was only room for 8 on the transfer button so that got sent back and I was told I needed to put the10 figure number in the Reference box. SANTANDER have cocked up my details so I can't access the account. However, I rang them and the money I sent is in the account so that's all that matters. Only bank that went without a hitch is Barclays where I joined for the 5.12%. Mind you, its early days yet. ZOPA is pretty good, and LLOYDS were too before I switched from them to the TSB. It's all good fun I guess.0

We switched back to Santander for our day to day banking after a gap of five or six years.
During the gap we were with TSB and I have to say their online platform was pants. Frequent outages and hopelessly slow response times.
I applied for the 2.75% saver account last week and the a/c was live within minutes. Perhaps I was lucky, or perhaps I applied before the stampede to grab it!!0 -
Got both my letter today in the post. Am I the only one who had no need to scratch the passcode box at the bottom of the first letter? The 2nd letter gives you your temporary code and the 1st letter your user number. this was all I needed.0
