Good morning all, can anyone help? I applied for the Santander esaver 5 days ago online and received a confirmation email with an application reference number to say they had received my application and I should hear back in 3 working days. I’ve heard nothing since, therefore I got in contact with Santander today to be told that as it’s been taken off I wouldn’t be able to open. Can they do this? Your advise will be appreciated. Thank you.

I've not set it up yet as I've got to wait for the letters being sent out again but looking at it, do you really need to enter that 10 digit long user ID as well as your password every time you log in!? How you supposed to remember that. Or is it just the first time you use it?
you could change it when setting up account
Yeh I already got to that stage but then got locked out so had to start the process again.  But even a 10 digit code of your own, as well as a password, seems way too much to access an app. Any other banks app I have asks for a single 4 - 6 digit code or a few random digits of a code.
once the app is set up you can use biometrics

That's the only option to simplify it? So if you don't use face or fingerprint you have to put those two full sets of details in everytime?

No, once the app is set up it's either biometrics or a 5 digit pass code of your choosing.

My account is still not open - I shall leave it another couple of days and then I shall complain again if this remains the case.

I’ve just got off the phone asking why no one has responded. They have said anyone that applied online with OLA22 account (in my case Tuesday morning at 7am) hasn’t been opened and they will be working to open it. As the rate has changed they will honour it. I raised a formal complaint so they have compensated me although I’ve stated that any interest should be backdated. So if anyone has this issue I’d suggest ringing up, as they won’t inform you and leave you in limbo.

Thank you. I’ve been on the phone to them again and been told as they have a high number of applications for the esaver it’s taking them some time to go through and I should get a response soon. They have also given me a contact number for a department who can check the progress of the application.

not sure why I was told on the first call that as it was withdrawn I wouldn’t be able to open it, even though I applied before them taking it off the market.

I’ll wait a few days to see if anything comes through.

    Thank you again.

In the app your interest rate is displayed. I'm monthly, so 2.72%, annual should show 2.75%.

Look at the interest rate which is shown when viewing the ESaver account online/in app.  It will show either 2.72% (interest paid monthly) or 2.75% (interest paid annually).
