Courier Cost Cutting Feedback/Discussion thread

I send around 40/50 per week on average Armitage
I've just tried DPD again and guess what?
Their site is closed again
I thought I would give them one more chance but if this is how they run their business what's the point?
You never know if they're gonna be open or not from one day to the next!
They don't seem to be very reliable (or professional) at all.
£5 per parcel or not, I need reliability.
I've prepaid with another courier service and whilst they're a little bit more expensive they're very reliable and helpful so I think I'll just stick with themI hope I never get so old I get religious...... Ingmar Bergman0 -

If you remember, I posted a couple of weeks ago about the last time I used DPD.
All I got then from the PF driver was a 'sorry we missed you' card with the tracking no. hand written on it and that was only after I had refused to hand over the parcel without a tracking no.
How on earth are you supposed to track a parcel without a tracking no.?
I had a parcel collected yesterday (the DPD) and the parcelforce guy hadthe label for me with the tracking number on - maybe it depends on which driver you get - i always have the same one and always get a tracking number
DPD never emailed me one (as the stated) but maybe that is because the driver gave it me0 -
luckily I don't book with DPD last night. Otherwise probably I need to rebook them with other agent again, I got 15 parcles today.0

I don't think anyone has had an email from DPD with a tracking no.
I'm not even going to attempt using DPD again, they seem like a Mickey Mouse outfit that hasn't got a clue what they're doing and obviously don't give a toot about their customers!
They haven't even got the decency to post an explanation on their website as to why they're closed yet again.
The last time when they closed for two weeks, it took them a couple of days to close the site down and state they were closed.
Meanwhile, some poor boogers were still putting bookings through unaware that they were closed.
They opened for 2 days then closed again.
I honestly think that their £5 offer was to attract customers back that had left through the last fiasco.
Boy has that backfired :rolleyes:I hope I never get so old I get religious...... Ingmar Bergman0 -

It wouldn't surprise me if the reason the site keeps going down is because Parcelforce have put them on stop due to non payment of their account. I could be wrong, but from my own experience with courier agents I've had two or three day periods when you can't get through on the phone. Then when you do get through they have suddenly changed courier.0 -
I wish I had read this forum before booking with Direct Parcel Delivery! The website was down last week and it was up again with the GBP5 special offer on, it looked new and upgraded so I thought they were down because they put a new site up.
So I booked, then it turns out the wrong day was booked and when I tried to contact them NOTHING! No response via email, the telephone number I got from Paypal politely states "the other person has hung up", and the site is down again!! I do have a tracking number that they emailed me at 12 last night, so I managed to contact Parcelforce to change the collection date, but no response from DPD. The 1st and last time I use them!
Had no probs when I used Parcel2Go, but this DPD offer was GBP5 which was over 2 quid cheaper. Next time I won't bother!0 -

Yep. This has happened to me twice now. The first driver was happy enough to give his depo a call to get the tracking number. The one that came to collect yesterday.. 'you really want a tracking number?!' well durrr! if they take it you have no proof you've sent it. Again, DPD failed to provide a tracking number via email.
If you're sending multiple parcels you've no chance as the tracking number has no details on where they're going!0 -
Hi I used Parcel2go.com after seeing them recommended on here.
I have had 2 failed collections for some reason they dont want to pick this parcel up.
I spoke to live help and i also called the courier (DHL) who promised me that after my failed collection yesterday they will definatly collect today... they told me this up to 5pm.
They even told me someone came to collect yesterday which is an absolute lie!
I have now asked them to cancel and will never be using them again.
I just hope i get a refund0 -
I also used DPD this week for 3 parcels over 2 days. Despite being promised tracking numbers, it took a few emails from me to extract the info from them. Parcels were collected and have been delivered, but collection driver had no paperwork, and only an IF number for the last once collected. Shame they can't get their act together cos I like paying just a fiver for overnight parcelforce! (instead of 13.99+). I have had great service on the whole over the past 4-6 weeks by booking through PPP (ppwexpress.com) - though its 2-3 quid per parcel more expensive than DPD - I always get paperwork from driver, and emailed tracking details from PPP same day of late.....0

Incidentally, DPD site still appears to be having a refit.0
