Courier Cost Cutting Feedback/Discussion thread

I used to use a courier agent (postvan.com or sameday.net who have now ceased trading) when I first started my bed business, and to be honest they were a nightmare. They used various couriers of which TNT were the best (but still lost and damaged goods). I used to spend on average 4 hours a week chasing up mattresses that had gone to the wrong addresses.

Due to our poor experience with courier agents we purchased our own vehicle. However we still continued to use couriers for out of the way deliveries.

We set up an account with Nightfreight because we were told that they were the best of a bad bunch. However on one occasion out of 7 consignments they managed to damage three. Two of these were very expensive pocket sprung/memory foam mattresses that appeared to have been slashed with a stanley knife. When we tried to claim be hit a brick wall.

So we then tried Furniture Logistics as they should know how to handle furniture, but out of two deliveries then damaged a pocket sprung mattress. Yet again when we tried to claim we hit a brick wall, and were told that they couldn't have damaged it because they don't damage things (they actually collected the mattress direct from the manufacturer).

So does anyone know of a reliable courier who can deliver large items like beds and mattresses to far out places at a reasonable cost??

Hey, don't take it so personally. As you rightly point out some people do just come on here to promote a company, and as custardy first pointed out there are a lot of brand new members who come on here then go on about how good a company is. Then we never hear from them again.

Obviously all members have to be new once, and will have a first post once, but when it is their only post myself and many other people start to smell a rat.

sorry mate i was having a bad week lol and when i seen the posts i just seen red.

i hope i didnt offend anyone in my fit of rage lol

Has anyone used these and are they any good?
I get the impression they're a bit of a half baked outfit, poor website, poor booking systems and disappearing for couple of weeks with barely any notice. But to be fair I haven''t used them.

But if they are deals5direct who traded on ebay around feb this year who we did use, than I can say they're communication is pants and their booking equally so.

It is tempting to use them especially at the price, but we've got 25+ parcels going monday so we can't afford to have any mishaps, hence we're going to sticking with ppwexpress who are very reliably.

it seams to me that ppw have worse feedback on this site than direct parcel delivery, ppw use dhl which are a joke, at least direct parcel delivery use parcelforce which are by far the best of a poor bunch it has to be said, but i fail to see what you what from a parcel delivery company you seem to want a great website a great booking system and it all for nothing , you need to wake up to the real world , jake jake jake has double the amount of posts on this website than you , and says they are a good company, yet you are happy criticise a company you have never used, a company that at a least £2.00 cheaper than ppw.
seams to me you need to grow up.......

The above post started off sounding like it was a company defending themselves, which is fair enough...........but then it turned into an outright advertisment!!!!!

yer you maybe right but it seams that it is all true, and what ArmitageShanks said was pretty much an attack on them, when he clearly knows nothing about, so what are they ment to do!!!!

They could have quite simply just defended the comments made against them, and stopped there. Instead they made it into an advert which is against forum rules, and is probably why it has now been removed.
