Courier Cost Cutting Feedback/Discussion thread

Bought a bed from ebay (French style with large wooden bed head and stead with mattress ) small double. I need to get it from Bristol to Bournemouth. A van will probably cost me around £90 + a day`s work and the courier I phoned quoted £110. Any ideas on how I could get it cheaper?
Hi
Have you got a courier sorted for this one yet. If not PM me, as I have a large number of couriers that I can get to quote for you.
Kind regards
Sandra0 -

I have forwarded this post and email form them to DHL for them to check. Its good if you can offer a good deal but to scam dhl out of millions is not
a good deal for anyone its thief!0 -
Also if they were a proper established company, they should understand it is ILLEGAL for Lisa to take any sort of trade book with her to the new company. Something about colluding with competitors...Student Moneysaving Expert :beer:0

A little worried now, I arranged for PPW to collect my parcel today, should I cancel?0

I used ppp and found them to be extemely unhelpful. Their customer service is practically non existant and trying to get a reply to an email is impossible.
The phone is constantly engaged or you get an answer machine.
I too have received that email from them today and it sounds ominous!
I now use these guys who I found on ebay http://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ25QQsassZukQ5fcourierQ5fexpress
I book my parcels with them direct from their site as the prices are cheaper than they are on ebay.
Their customer service is excellent and I haven't had a problem with them with over 100 parcels.
Their prices are very reasonable (especially their European Prices)0 -
Ooops
Forgot to give you the link to their site:
http://ukcourierexpress.web.officelive.com/default.aspx
And these guys DO give you a discount for block bookings0 -

I can tell you now their european prices arn't anything special, at all.
Out of interest if you 'buy 10' how quickly do you have to use them up?0 -

I always use mine up pretty quickly but there's no time limit than I'm aware of.
I sent a parcel to Slovenia weighing 31kgs and measuring 110x50x50 for £33.99 with these guys.
I was quoted upwards from £75+Vat from others.
Do you know any others where I could have got it cheaper as my business is picking up with Slovenian and Slovakian sales.0 -
ABC.....

Yes is the answer to your question, the way we do it is just email the booking details to them and then send the amount via paypal direct to them, unprompted; no booking form etc. We always request confirmation and normally send them I reminder in the morning.
We're stopping using them as much as possible now, for international parcels we use Express Packages Deliveries , the chap that runs it 'Richard' is always very helpful, prices are good and are for up to 30kg, they use parcelforce. For places he doesn't have listed you just email him for a quote.).
While PPP is the cheapest way to send my parcel to Italy, their price does not include insurance! - there's always a catch  . They quoted me a whopping £7 per kilo insurance!!
I've therefore re-searched different couriers and found ArmitageShanks' recommendation the cheapest (thanks again! ). They use Parcelforce with tracking facilities and parcels will be insured for up to £150!
Hope this helps someone!0
