The thing with hiring a van is there's a higher chance of damage to items, and you'd have to pay for the damages yourself. Add on the cost of diesel and your time, and it might not be much cheaper than a removals company
Yes thanks thats not something I had really considered, but now thinking about my partner, and my brother doing the move I think the chance of damages is quite likely lol0 -
movinghouse_arghh wrote: »Hi Steve, I've just looked at that site you mentioned, and I see it does house removals. I'm moving in a few weeks (fingers crossed) and have got some quotes from removal companies but at the moment am considering just hiring a van, because my quotes are so high. Would you think its worth trying shiply? Was it easy/fast to use? Any negatives? Because I'm just thinking if you can save that much on a pool table might be really worthwhile for a whole house?
Thanks
Obviously I haven't tried it for something like moving a house but I don't see why not, especially as its free! It was really easy for me took me a couple of minutes to put it on the shiply site. Now I am guessing a removal will require more input but all i can say really is that it was easy and fast for me and saved me a significant amount of cash, i wish you the best of luck with your move! Let us know how you got on...0 -
Can anyone help? I'm fairly new to selling on e-bay and looks like I have made my biggest 'learning experience' so far! I sold a Dyson recently for £15 with a £10 delivery charge, going on the fact that my sister sold hers and got it couriered for £6.99, so I figured plus vat etc etc. However, now I come to book a service it is all coming up with £25 - £35 to get it from Worcestershire to Milton Keynes. (The courier she used no longer exists!) Does anyone know who I could use cheaper or do you reckon I should contact the buyer, apologise profusely, refund them + a sweetner?? dunno what to do now but I know one of you clever lot will give me either a bollo**ing or some precious advice. The greatest gift you'll ever learn,is just to love and be loved in return:love:Nature boy - Eden Ahbez0

Thanks custardy....you made me go back and double check I hadn't missed anyone and in doing so I had an idea....some would call it logic, although not me as it ISN'T IN MY VOCABULARY!!!!! I have now discovered that if I remove the big pokey out thing and pack it beside I can get it to the required maximum height...derrrrrr.
See I knew that one of you lot would help! That was what you call a no brain panic. OK, as you were, I shall not darken your doors again!
Thanks all. Have a great evening! :rotfl:The greatest gift you'll ever learn,is just to love and be loved in return:love:Nature boy - Eden Ahbez0 -

you've got 120 x 60 x 60 with DHL
Parcel force...For the UK these are: weight - your parcel must not exceed 30kg; length and girth - the size must not exceed 3 metres length and girth (measured around its thickest part) combined and 1.5 metres for the greatest dimension. Girth should be calculated as twice the height of theparcel plus twice the width of the Parcel measured around its thickest part.
You can get both for £6.
Even if there slightly over one of the dimensions there normally fine.0 -
Hi
I want to buy a supermarket shopping trolley(strange, I know!!). there is one on ebay starting at £28 plus VAT, which they said I can collect (but it is too far for me) and it is too big to dend as a parcel, and needs to go on a pallet.....they have quoted £47.20 plus VAT for this on a 3 day service.
This really bumps up the price of the trolley.
Any ideas which company I could contact in order to get a better price for delivery?
Thanks
You local Supermarket will supply one in exchange for a £1 coin!0 -
I have sold a mobile phone on ebay. Can anyone advise the best courier for this? Box size 250 x 200 x 50mm, weight 1kg. Is prepaid parcel okay? It would be nice to have compensation of 100 pounds. Advice appreciated as I am rather new to this.Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0
