Courier Cost Cutting Feedback/Discussion thread

I have used home-textiles a few times before on ebay. They are good. The problem we have is home-textiles (parceltree) charge customers VAT, but they don't provide VAT receipt. We are VAT registered business. So we can not claim VAT back without a VAT invoice.
After PPP increased their rate, I think they are not cheapest any more. If parceltree provide VAT receipt, they are the cheapest for VAT registered business.
Contact them and ask them for their VAT number. If they aren't registered then they shouldn't be charging you VAT. If they are then they MUST provide you with a VAT receipt if requested.0 -
>> ...Next day contacted PPP who said sorry will rebook free of charge....
Doesn't sound too bad really? Courier messed up and missed collection (it happens, did to me monday), you contact them to let them know (fwiw - when did you contact them? may be the reason for later arrival and no paperwork), they rebook no questions asked just as they did with me, and as for saying "free of charge" I guess they just wanted to make sure you didn't think you were gonna get charged for it? Next day, courier comes as expected. Ok, no paperwork, but I guess you can expect that under the circumstances, and PF have often left me with non even on a normal collection. So... not that bad is it? Plenty others would just not bother rebooking I'm sure. Personally I'd prefer to book with them from now on just because I know they're no hastle to fix things when DHL mess up.0 -

I contacted them a few times. They just ignore my email. There is no tel number on their website.0 -

5.30, DHL finally arrived and took the parcels, I asked where the paperwork was and he said he didnt have any, he was called by DHL to make a detour to pick up. so no paperwork or tracking labels.
He did manage to find 2 and I got him to sign a piece of paper to say what he took. He also said he would sort it out when he got back, reluctantly I said ok. 2 hours later at 7.30pm after biting all my nails he did ring back with new tracking numbers, th etwo he gave me where no good. So I gave three parcels to a casual driver with no proof. TBH the driver was great, he went out of his way to help using his own time and phone.
I emailed PPP twice with a complaint, did they reply did they eck. So never using them again. Better the devil you know, never had any problems with parcel force.
If DHL had it on their system what can PPP do?? they don't collect the parcels, DHL do.
We've never had missed collections from us, but when collecting from other addresses we've had problems. Moral of the story is if you send more than the odd parcel and get on with your driver he'll come whatever; busy day or not, flip side...if you don't he probably won't.0 -

If you bought their service through ebay then use this link to get their phone number: http://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQtZvbQQsofindtypeZ90 -
Bought a bed from ebay (French style with large wooden bed head and stead with mattress ) small double. I need to get it from Bristol to Bournemouth. A van will probably cost me around £90 + a day`s work and the courier I phoned quoted £110. Any ideas on how I could get it cheaper?0

Cheapest pallet transport is around £70-£80 plus Vat for one-offs. Your Van hire sounds a bit steep (if that's what it is), you should be able to hire a Tranist size van for around £40 for a day..0 -
