My switch happened today without hitch (although for reasons unknown they said they couldn't switch another bank account I had offered up earlier  - and bizarrely, they also said they couldn't switch another account - details of which showed that I had no such account and hadn't entered any such details on the switch form!)

Interestingly, the lady on the phone said the direct debits had to be only "active" for the switch incentive of £125. They needn't have paid out, and (I think) don't need to actually pay out monthly for the second £55 incentive

In any case, as I'll know by 16 Dec if I qualified for the switch incentive, there'll be no need to go through the work of doing the 5 debit card payments, etc for the remaining £55 if unsuccessful

For the additional £55 you need a minimum of 2 'active' DDs- whatever that means!
M&S used to call an annual DD active but most other banks seem to want a monthly pay out!
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

  • Am I too late to apply with this incentive?

I thought I had until midnight tonight to apply but can't find the link on MSE or MoneySupermarket - could somebody post it on here if it is still active.

The link has gone - likely because it expires at midnight, but the MSE staff work office hours - so possibly pulled when they went home for the day :) (That's my guess - so there were no errant applications after midnight)  No doubt there'll be another offer soon...

I think it was midnight last night (e.g. by 31st October). You could try clicking through to the landing page from the link in the first post of this forum thread, but one of the conditions is that you need to "apply for a new Spend & Save or Spend & Save Plus account through MoneySuperMarket or Money Saving Expert". If there is no longer a link you can follow from either website (it does appear they've been removed), you are probably out of luck.
  • Thanks. I've applied via the link from the landing page, fingers crossed it works. Bit annoying that the offer is still active but MSE have taken the link down early.

I know what you mean, but from the terms, "TSB have the right to withdraw, alter or replace the offer at any time".

I hope it still works for you, but you'll learn that if it's getting 'action' on here, don't leave good offers to the last minute...

My switch has completed this morning - received a letter a few days ago from both TSB and my donor account - and today got a text to say it's done. Checked it - and the residual funds have transferred in. Both direct debits are also set up. Now all I have to do is make a purchase on the debit card by the 18th of November in order to qualify for the main payment. I'm not sure I'll do the 5 purchases a month bit yet to get another £55 - but will see how it goes....
  • So, I set up my TSB account on Friday using the link. However, I haven't yet switched as I need to get a second direct debit set up on the account I am switching in.

Am I right in thinking that I still have until the 18th Nov to set up the switch? Or have I missed it?

If I do have until the 18th Nov, is there anything in particular I need to watch out for when setting up the switch? Do I need to go through the link again?

    Thanks!
  • The switch needs to be completed by 18/11 and a switch takes 7 working days so you don't have a lot of time to play with.

The switch process is fairly straightforward. You fill in a pdf with the details of both accounts and the debit card details of the donor account.
