Apologies if this has been asked elsewhere, but to qualify for the extra £55 in June 2023 do the 5 debit card payments per month have to be actual purchases, or can they be standing orders?

    The Ts&Cs say:

"6. make at least 5 debit card payments per month (excluding cash withdrawals and bill payments made in a TSB branch"

    Thanks.
No, you need to make actual debit card transactions (ie. physically use your card somewhere, or use your debit card number to make purchases online). A standing order won't count for this
But remember many savings accounts let you pay into them by debit card online, so you can just make 5 debit card deposits into a savings account if you wanted to.
Apologies you are correct - I meant to refer to "online transactions" rather than "online purchases", but the result is the same - you need to use your debit card details rather than your sort code/account number.

For past TSB cashback offers, I just made multiple debit card payments to a credit card that I use for my day-to-day spending. Savings accounts accepting payments by debit card are also a good choice if you won't generate the required transactions normally.

It is annoying that many offers like this don't give any indication if they are tracking correctly or not, e.g a welcome email confirming that you have signed up via the MSE cashback offer.

At least with cashback sites, the referral tracks within a few days (still may not pay out), so you know if the first hurdle was cleared.
With cashback sites (Topcashback and Quidco) there is also the option to lodge a 'missing claim' if a click-through doesn't track.

They say cashback isn't guaranteed with this method. However, I've had success with quite a few claims (I don't recall a click-though claim ever being rejected after investigation). It does take a while to process claim but eventually cashback was in my account.

Wonder if we can contact MSE to ask TSB to pay up? Probably not.

Get a couple of friends to set up GoCardless accounts, you can then give your friends £1/month by direct debit (and they can send it back, minus the £0.25 fee) and the payments are normally taken within a couple of weeks tops.

Moneybox and Plum savings accounts £1/2 week direct debits are the best for this I think due to being set up and first payment within 10 days

For Moneybox, I understand there is £1 per month fee but is free for the first three month? Does it also apply for "Simple Saver" or it is only for investing account.
Similarly to plum is there any fee to maintain the account?

There are no fees for the moneybox simple saver. See:
    https://www.moneyboxapp.com/faqs/what-are-the-fees-for-the-95-day-notice-account/

Plum savings are also fee free.

In addition to AndyTh_2, another one to to link your current account with PayPal. It could be set up instantly and take less than a week for the money to be pulled from the link account. But you will need to pull the money manually.
The good things is that you could link a few accounts. Some people have reported they could link 4+4 accounts.
