Nationwide FlexDirect £200 switch bonus (Oct 2022)

  • My understanding from my point of view is that you can switch a sole and a joint account to benefit from this incentive, but only if you haven't received from a previous switching incentive since August 2021. So in September last year I switched a sole into my existing joint account and so the only way I could get this incentive is to switch a joint into a new Nationwide joint account (this has been confirmed by Nationwide twice, once by Facebook and the other by live chat).

When you didn't get the joint incentive last year, was it because you switched it into the joint account that had already had 1 of the sole accounts switched into?
  • Anyone knows how to change the account type from joint to sole? Do I need to visit branch or can be done through online banking or phone banking? I haven't got the incentive switching from joint to joint but I have already got joint Nationwide account, so will change to sole then open another new joint and switch into that.  For this I will also need joint donor account, know any that is easy to set up joint account..all online ?
  • It still isn't clear if you can swap your sole account to nationwide sole account, and your joint account to nationwide joint account and get the bonus twice.
i.e. £200 for sole account switch and £200 for joint account switch.
The T&Cs seem to contradict each other as says you can do one sole and one joint, but then later says you can only receive the £200 once.
Anyone got any previous on this or know the answer?

I read it as saying that you can get the incentive on one sole and one joint account switch, but if switching into a joint account you will only receive one payment for that switch, i.e. the joint account holders will not receive £200 each.

Hi guys, first account transfer so hopefully goes smoothly!

I've just transferred a Starling account to the Nationwide one this morning, however i've only just set up my DD on my Starling accounts, hopefully they move over to Nationwide on the day of the switch. Does there need to have been a payment on the original accounts DD for myself to be eligible for the reward? Thanks

When is your switch? Did you pick a date in the future to allow the DD time to be set up on the switching account. The DD must show on the account before the switch has started as the bank notifies Nationwide on day 1 or 2 of payments - "Direct Debits set up or transferred after your switch has been started will not count towards this offer".

It still isn't clear if you can swap your sole account to nationwide sole account, and your joint account to nationwide joint account and get the bonus twice.

Yes you can switch one sole and one joint account to get the incentive - clause 4 "This offer is only valid on the first sole current account and first joint current account you have switched to us since 18 August 2021."

Where in the T&C's does it state you can only receive the £200 once?  If you mean this statement "You’ve previously benefitted from this offer or any previous current account online switch offer since 18 August 2021, as set out in clause 4" then this applies to the above, so you can only receive on your first sole and first joint account switched.

Though you cannot switch into an account that has received a incentive since 2021, so can't switch both to the same account. I had already switched a sole into my joint last year and so this time had to open a new joint to switch a joint into to be eligible for this incentive as confirmed by Nationwide via Facebook and live chat.

My switch completed on Tuesday and the £200 was credited yesterday.

    Very impressed with the speed!

For anyone who has completed the switch or it is still processing, when were you able to register for internet banking?
Do they also send a code to use when setting up to use the app.?
Switch started and account details(number and sort code) received last Monday.
I received my debit card PIN this morning. Nothing else yet except text messages confirming switch date (20th).
Possibly they are quite busy with new accounts opening!
