Nationwide FlexDirect £200 switch bonus (Oct 2022)

Couple of questions, hope this is the right place as don’t want to start a new thread.I have a Nationwide FlexDirect account since 2018, largely dormant with £3 in it as never used since my 5% interest rate on it finished. I did not use a switch for this promo.Do I still qualify for the switching promo that is currently running? I plan to open a dummy account with my current bank, move a couple of DDs over, then do the switch. Also, what constitutes an eligible direct debit? I have a couple of yearly ones (English Heritage, football membership etc) but I presume only monthlies are accepted?
Many thanks in advance!0 -

Many thanks in advance! If the frequency is an issue then the terms will specify so:
As it happens they just say
You must transfer a minimum of 2 active Direct Debits from the current account being switched to the Nationwide account as part of the switch. Direct Debits set up or transferred after your switch has been started will not count towards this offer. Other types of automated payments, such as standing orders and recurring card payments, won’t count towards this.0 -
Hi all,
I want to take up this switch offer (late to the party clearly and never done this before!!!) I have a second current account with HSBC that my partner both pay £1400 a month into, and all of our monthly DD’s come out of - mortgage, utilities ect - is that basically everything covered to qualify for the bonus? Is the switching service good? The last thing I need is something not going over and being charged any penalties from anyone 🤦🏼♀️

Well - I went for it, started the application, ticked that I did NOT want an overdraft and then failed the soft search?! (I have a DMP so my score is poor) Told I could only have a flex basic but I didn’t see anywhere in the switch T&C’s about a certain credit rating 😢0

I have an existing Nationwide Flexaccount and Flexdirect account. Both are joint accounts with my wife. I'm a bit confused re clause 4 in the T&Cs: "this offer is only valid on the first sole current account and first joint current account you have switched to us since 18 August 2021". We have not switched any accounts into Nationwide since that date, but does that mean that we can claim the incentive twice - on a joint account switched into our Flexaccount and a sole account in my name also switched into the same Flexaccount? Presumably my wife can also claim by switching a sole account in her name into the Flexdirect account as well, or does condition 2 preclude that?0

I'd switched a sole into a joint account last year for the September incentive and so wasn't sure if I'd be eligible for this offer. Nationwide told me that the only way I'd get this offer is if I switched a joint account into a new joint account (not existing one) with Nationwide.
So yes you could switch a joint account into 1 of the joint accounts and switch a sole, but I think you'd have to either switch the sole into the other joint or open a new sole account instead.1 -
Decided to go for their offer after receiving Santander's £160 late last month.Straightforward enough. Completed the application using my mobile phone which meant that a picture of my Driving Licence and a mug shot could be used as identifiction.Chose the 20th as switch date. Received a text with account no. and sort code and an e-mail confirmation with three attachments, soon after.Received a text, this morning confirming switch date with a reference. Not too keen on having to use a card reader at times, but hey ho, receiving £200 is worth it!0

Waiting for my sort /acc number to come in post as photo wouldn't work. I have got my pin so expect card to come shortly.
May I ask about the card reader ? What is this please ?

Why do banks make the t's & c's for their offers so complex/ambiguous?
Qualification point 2 says: "This offer is only valid on the first sole current account and first joint current account you have switched to us since 18 August 2021".
So a couple should be able to qualify for 3 incentives in total for 2 x sole switches and 1x joint.
When I won't qualify says: "you’re switching into a Nationwide account that has already been switched into and benefitted under this or any previous current account online switch offer since 18 August 2021".So 3 x different Nationwide a/cs need to be used for switching into.
and "you’ve previously benefitted from this offer or any previous current account online switch offer since 18 August 2021, as set out in clause 4".I'm not sure what the meaning of the clause 4 reference is. It certainly doesn't clarify whether or not the 3rd incentive for a joint a/c switch would be paid.
The MSE page only adds to the confusion by saying: "Who can get the bonus? Anyone, unless you've switched a current account to Nationwide since 18 August 2021". This effectively is rejecting the idea of a 3rd incentive for a joint switch.
We did sole switches under the previous offer for 2 x £125 incentives and also did a joint switch but didn't get paid (as expected under the terms at the time). We've opened a new Santander joint a/c and have just received the debit cards so am ready to apply for the joint switch.
Has anyone had confirmation from Nationwide that a couple can get 3 x incentives under this offer?
