Hey @alt80
I have a friend who has never ever had good sleeping patterns (she is now 54) - she has literally survived on 3 hours sleep a night for years and years. She has recently started seeing an acupuncturist and has had a couple of nights of 8 hours solid sleep - first time ever!!
She has found she is sleeping better overall - stints of five and six hours over the last fortnight since she started with the acupuncturist . She is a reformed character - her thinking is brighter and she feels able to deal with life.
I thought I'd share her experience as it may be a helpful route for you in the short term - it isn't medical advice obviously; I'm simply sharing what has worked for her.
Recovery is brutal but you are doing so many things right - I hope you find the strength to keep on keeping on.

@Cherryfudge thanks, I have spoken to the pros and I’m trying to do some of the things both they and you have recommended. As far as my personal finances go I would like to some day own our family home outright and to not have to use credit to pay large bills when they do occur so my wife is ok when I’m gone. Actual pension/ property is dealt with before money reaches my hands although I have to think whether we have less to feed those investments more. Current c.£3k a month is being directed to my wife’s future through rental profits. It seems a good amount and will be if I see state retirement age but we don’t know do we? On a personal level I appreciate this sounds ridiculous but I’m very apprehensive about being someone who saves and no longer has a mortgage- I suppose I think that the debt drives to meet the commitments. No longer having the commitment really !!!!!! scares me.I want to do well and be able to work as I did but rn the only thing I enjoy is being with my wife and son. I look forward to the weekend rather than buzzing for the week ahead. My staff are keeping it together tbh and have been for a while. I have a few different business interests that I would like to pursue but am afraid to- I have no confidence anymore. Just feel a total failure and know that if anything happened to my current business or if half my staff left at once I’d be done without any !!!!!! drive to get back up.The pros don’t tell me to get back on it, it’s all geared towards alleviating my anxiety and stress. Dgmw it was lovely to do some of the activities that I did at the rehab place which they are encouraging me to carry on with but these hobbies etc don’t make you money or keep your house clean.2

@Working_Mum thank you, like your friend I have had sleep issues for many years, even as a kid I didn’t sleep well. Glad to hear it’s working for your friend, she will 100% feel better for getting better sleep. I have not had acupuncture tbf my wife suggested I try it for an old injury which causes me issues from time to time and it is covered under my insurance policy. I’ll have a serious think / look.3

Have you got any days out with your boy planned this school holidays?1

Mr d was a total sceptic when he was sent for acupuncture and thought he would just do it, have it not work then he'd go back to doctor for the next stage in the doctors repertoire. It worked amazingly for him22: 3🏅 4⭐ 23: 5🏅 6 ⭐ 24 1🏅 2⭐ 25 🏅 🥈 Never save something for a special occasion. Every day is a special occasion. Until I moved here, I never needed to worry much about the house being too hot in summer. Previous owner did a lot of work to the property and it is south facing too. Wife wants to install ac now, tbf I don’t blame her, it is hot. Shes an 8 hour a night sleeper and is annoyed the temperature of the room has affected her sleep. Tbf I am pleased she sleeps well but I did have to laugh.
@RelievedSheff we are going to the motocross again, a long weekend and I’ve said I’ll go along to the karting with them. Wife wants me to book another long weekend to Whitby but I’m not sure summer holidays are the best time to go. Think I might have said on here before I don’t really love going away when the state schools break up for summer. We try to stick with the weeks our son is off but most schools aren’t and avoid southern Europe as it’s too hot generally as well as the airports always being at capacity. We did talk about going to Norway (and Scotland, although I’m sure it is busy there) but idk what Norway is like and whether it’s rammed with kids this time of year. It would be nice to get away during the long summer break and tbf we should have booked an additional holiday at the start before all the state schools break up.@daisy_1571 I have heard people say similar things about it. I should speak to the health line - I suppose I struggle with keeping on trying to get better and try alternatives, I’m at the point of accepting a poor quality of life (possibly the wrong term as I do know it is !!!!!! mental ill health for the most part)1 -
Living within reach of Whitby, I can assure you it's rammed on holidays and if the sun comes out! Perhaps an option might be an off-season cottage in that area, so you get round the town, try out the sea front and don't have to queue down the road for fish and chips! It's a great little town, but soooo busy with everyone and a million dogs, for some reason.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Driving back home from England, we find that the roads get quieter and quieter as you come up the country. Then once you get into Scotland, suddenly everybody else has gone lol. So you'll always find quiet empty roads if you go off the main roads round towns22: 3🏅 4⭐ 23: 5🏅 6 ⭐ 24 1🏅 2⭐ 25 🏅 🥈 Never save something for a special occasion. Every day is a special occasion. our kids start their holidays right at beginning of July, some years last school day is still in June. They return to school about the 3rd week in August if that helps22: 3🏅 4⭐ 23: 5🏅 6 ⭐ 24 1🏅 2⭐ 25 🏅 🥈 Never save something for a special occasion. Every day is a special occasion.
