Not had the best day today but have got through, got on with what needed to be done. Going to try not to do any work this evening. Over the next week or so we're going to have a look at planning the rest of our holidays / weekends away for the rest of this year.

@RelievedSheff my industry as a whole has a similar problem re a lot of people coming up for retirement. I've been fortunate to have a mix of ages / experience within the business; it's the way I planned, wanted it and something I'm actually quite proud of building. Are you involved in recruitment?
They are involving us more with the recruitment side. Think they have realised that we might actually have an idea if someone is going to be up to the job 🙄

@RelievedSheff ha that's a problem with some corporates takes far too long for them to use some common sense sometimes.

It will take time to change your mindset completely.

You are making great progress with it already. Keep up the good work :)

Just logged off for the weekend ought to leave the office now. No real plans will just spend the weekend with my family and not spend much money ha.

@poppy811 I have a long way to go to be proud of myself ha idk probably not going to happen tbf I am pleased that I am doing the right thing by my family although I cannot provide as much as I’d like to be able to. My only interest is work tbh only time I feel half ok is when I’m working and sometimes when we do something together as a family.

@RelievedSheff I know it is the right thing to do being on this path tbf.

Had a day of doing not a lot. Not spent a lot, went out for lunch with family. Clocks go forward tonight and had a bit of an odd thought that the next time they go forward I shouldn’t have any credit card balances. Can’t even really imagine it, idk sounds !!!!!! silly but it’s making me anxious. Can’t spend either haha I agreed to the additional spending this year for holidays / weekends away but can’t pull the trigger - some misguided wish to not spend and deny myself the time away from work. Only making my family miss out too I know that and am disappointed in myself for thinking this way.

You have made some amazing progress, I know it is difficult especially as you own business so it is hard to switch off. I guess finding some happy balance would be the end goal for you, the family things are doing you really good so focus on them :) - it sometimes might not seem it in your head but you are doing great

    You're doing well @alt80

Your brain is still adjusting. For a long time you lived with and got your 'joy' from extremes. Now you're striving for balance in life, a completely opposite way of living. No wonder its tough inhabiting the middle ground and why you struggle with pushing the button on spends when your main satisfaction is coming from maxing your debt repayments. Don't forget though despite this you keep making good choices.

Maybe just book one break away at a time so it is a smallish spend?

I’m ridiculous about spending money on me, I spend hours wondering if it is a need or want, can it wait? However if it is a spend on the dogs the credit card is straight out without a thought 😂 I’m lucky that I can pay it off I full most months 😃
