Congratulations to Mrs Alt - well done.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.1

Thanks all, we managed to get out for an impromptu lunch to celebrate. She’s still on cloud nine! The lad she was learning with passed too not with no minors though. As she said herself it’s the only test she’s ever passed with 100% haha. They are going to a bike shops in Chesterfield tomorrow, he’s after an MT09 and she wants a triumph like our friends have. Quite pleased about that - the MT09 has iro 120bhp and is imo far too much for someone who has just passed their test. He told me not to be so much of an old man lol. 100% he thinks I’m some overly cautious idiot. I was driving an E36 M3 when I was his age and didn’t hang about tbf looking back it was a bit “back in my day” fml I’m not that !!!!!! old yet ha. I’ve spoken to the pros about getting jealous over nothing, it really helped and actually had a good laugh this afternoon. I know there’s no reason for me to spoil it for them, they are friends nothing more. Apologised for my behaviour and it does keep cropping up in my head but I need to just move on. I am still dreading her finding the perfect bike before the money is really there to buy it but we’ll cross that bridge when we (inevitably) come to it.I have stuck with what I need to, what the pros want, journaling, eating well and getting a decent amount of exercise. I am sleeping better too which makes all the difference to me. It’s when I stop concentrating on this really basic stuff others probably don’t even think about there’s a problem. I need to remember that.Thank you @Working_Mum / @daisy_1571, he is a good lad and tbf my head goes into !!!!!! overdrive sometimes.6

Really big well done to Mrs Alt, especially if she had to deal with the nay-sayers.
And a big one to you as well @alt80 for getting yourself back in the game this week. For all we talk, its you that has to do it.
That's quite funny though, you coming across as the cautious older person. If only they knew, eh?
PS On paying for the bike, what would be wrong with Mrs Alt having a bit of finance on one which she pays for from her 'allowance' which is to come ? A bit more real world and all that.4 -
Not sure if this will help, but when I was doing my bike test, I got chatting to a man (there was only men!) And we also struck up a friendship and rode together outside of the learning. There was nothing in it except the shared joy of riding. Without him, I would have had nobody to go out riding with.
I don't ride any more, but we still keep in touch.September 2017 Debt = £25330
Starting afresh.
You can do anything if you put your mind to it. x5 -
Firstly I would like to say well done Alt. I don't comment ofter but I do follow your progress. My main reason for this post is really regarding your wife. Well done to her for passing her bike test. She will be on a high with that and rightly so. However, we have been bikers for a lot of years and have been involved with the Motorcycle Action Group since the 90's. I would stress to your wife the importance of taking an experienced rider with her when she does go looking for a bike. They will understand what bike is best suited to her at this stage. She is an inexperienced rider and the temptation to choose something that is a speed machine or looks the part is great, but she needs actual riding experience to become a good, safe rider. If there is a local MAG group near to where you live I would urge her to go along and join. They do ride-outs and social events and usually have riders of all levels of experience who will support her.5
