You have done really well Alt and tackled so many things. As you reflect on the past year focus on the positive and vow to leave the negative behind. Maybe this coming year you could tackle the poor sleep problem? I’ve recently found that inulin helps sounder sleep, it’s meant to improve gut health, which might appeal to your wife, but a side effect is deeper sleep. Michael Mosley wrote about it a while back, worth a look among all the other sleep hygiene practices. Happy, healthy new year to you all.Downshifted

Thank you. Really been struggling over the past few days, slightly better yesterday idk something in it being the start of a new year maybe. I have a good plan financially that goes beyond sorting out the personal debt, seeing the interest rates rise so quickly scared me possibly just lost my nerve a bit but I’ve witnessed people lose large property portfolios before and rn I don’t really feel comfortable with the amount of debt mine carries. We are sticking with a reduced personal life, there are times it isn’t easy tbf I have days I can’t see an end to the current way of life which isn’t bad by most standards but isn’t easy when hedonism on one level or another has always won. Every time I go through my personal finances I think I’m failing my family, know that logically that isn’t the case and that what I was doing before was failing them.

I'm sure you will be fine Alt. You have made big changes for your family and it has put you in a better stead to ride the storm out.2

@downshifted thank you, sleep is a difficult subject rn I have an awful pattern of sleep. Getting to sleep is more of a problem than staying asleep most of the time then can’t get up some days. It doesn’t help me and leads my head in the wrong direction on a regular basis. Probably doesn’t help this festive period we have gone a bit mad with food, eaten a lot which we don’t usually in larger quantities. Lot of walking, bit of running and some home gym so at least managed some exercise with it. Step count not been so high since Covid lockdowns, back to the proper gym now, doing the happiness calendar as a family, meditation and yoga.
@RelievedSheff I know you’re right and for the long term sticking with the plan will give my family and I security. We still have a lifestyle and for that I am thankful, there are people really struggling atm with just the basic food / household costs. Don’t wish to come across ungrateful because that’s not the case, even with the guidance of the pros I still can’t untie my own self worth from things.
@lucielle thanks, I’ve not been able to do any of it alone and it breaks me not being able to give the world to my little family who’ve stood beside me.2
