Additional payment made as planned. Not been well at all so just about getting back to normal life after nearly a week unwell.
I am really struggling with the idea of getting through December but my family are here for me and know. To get here I’ve had to cut people I still care about from my life and first Christmas properly post covid should be a time to spend the month celebrating. Many of my staff have things planned we have our family time, church on Christmas Eve with son’s school friend and parents and staff lunch. Just the three of us on Christmas Day which is my fault. I have taken my cards out of my wallet just have access to my business credit card for work expenses. When not working I am with my wife.
Thank you @Sun_Addict. Re the news I think your attitude to it is admirable and 100% right re politicians. Next year I’ll be clobbered for tax for an amount beyond anything I can ever remember. Living in the moment and taking one day at a time where possible is good and something I am trying to practice in recovery.2 -
We enjoy a quiet Christmas at home just the two of us and the dog. Means we can do what we want to do when we want to do it. If I'm honest we enjoy it more just the two of us!
I think a lot of people will fall foul of additional tax in the next few years. Freezing the tax brackets when wages are rising, on the whole, fairly rapidly with inflation will move more people into he next tax brackets. I will be in the next bracket next year.1 -
@RelievedSheff that sounds really nice tbf. We’re still going to have a nice lunch and make an effort, on a purely selfish level I will enjoy having our home to ourselves without the in-laws.
My taxes up for both business and personal with operating costs increasing and less investor / buyer confidence rn so some of my streams of income are negatively affected. Tbh whilst wages have been and are rising within the population it’s probably quite a time until I see anything like an increase in my own income.0 -

Then we will be eating leftovers for days afterwards!0 -
Just wondering how you all are @alt80? I know it feels tough right now but you should be so proud of the fact that you are both working through issues and have your feet on the ground. Hiding in fantasies is seductive and horribly widespread but it ends in serious psychological trouble. You will have a fab lower-key Christmas that means much more than enforced fake jollity and spending time with at least some toxic people: not your in-laws but other family. Onwards and upwards love Humdinger xx1

No real news from me. We have said that we will put some Christmas decorations up this weekend. Only bought a few things for Christmas this year, it’s difficult to make any sort of effort tbh but we are trying to make it enjoyable for our boy.End of next week we are on track to make the additional £3.5k payment to the cards. Throwing another £300 to it from something sold so £3.8k plus minimum. Good to see progress each month tbf about all I look forward to ha.Staff are out this weekend, I’m not going. Wife and I were meant to be going to a restaurant but my in-laws have refused to help with our son so the three of us are just going to go somewhere else bit more of a family place. I know next year is going to likely be a tough one in business so nothing to really look forward to or celebrate.1

Alt you and your wife have made so much progress together this year. You should be very proud of what you have achieved.0 -
Thanks, both. We had a nice evening as a family, didn’t spend too much either.
I’m very proud of my wife and grateful for her support. At the moment I am struggling with sleep and it’s taking its toll on me. Still in therapy, taking one day at a time and focusing on business. I want to be able to provide my little family with a nice life and future security, it’s the least I owe them.
Have one day that I’m not so concerned about economic downturns and rising interest rates would be nice ha.4 -
Been trying to avoid everything apart from work including looking / positing on here with Christmas coming up and coming to the end of the year. Sleep still a big problem and it messing with my head, thoughts/ cravings etc. but I’m on track. Every payment I make towards reducing debt means I’m taking a step towards that goal of one day not being terrified of economic downturns/ a slower year or two in business/ rising interest rates/ potential of banks being less willing to lend on favourable terms.2
