@alt8 My very best wishes for you and your family in 2023.
"I’ve not been able to do any of it alone and it breaks me not being able to give the world to my little family who’ve stood beside me. "
Your family don't want the world, they want you, they have shown this to you constantly. I so hope that bit by bit you can overcome the lack of self worth, I totally understand that this is not easy.

@maddiemay thank you.
It is something I am working on, ups and downs, mainly downs tbf but still have some hope… not all lost ha.
Had a decent bank holiday working through some business but mainly personal goals for the coming year. I’ll possibly put something up on here over the next few days, bit of accountability outside immediate family will be good.2 -
@alt80 you might like to look at Lend With Care, which is a charitable giving website where you put money into an account (minimum £15) and then you browse a range of entrepreneurs to lend it to (they get more and less borrowers at different times eg Christmas is always popular to lend to the entrepreneurs). You get to read their projects, from farming to sewing, mechanics, Internet or regular cafe to shop. They repay over time and you lend again.
I thought your son might like looking with you at different people in different countries and deciding who to lend to. Might be something nice for you all as a family or an option for his gift for others in future?
I've been lending for a few years now and over time I've added to my funds and find it rewarding. You can withdraw the repayments if you need to, so it's an investment with some risk that gives you no growth but helps people help themselves and their families live a better life.
And massive congrats. I've thought of you a lot and I'm so happy to see how you are progressing with your wife. Good luck!Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.8 -
Crazy first few days back at work, quite glad it’s Friday tomorrow, plan to try to finish before 6 and have dinner with my family. Not had time to spend at least. Getting my personal goals set out for this year I’ll have a look at this weekend I think.
@katsu I really like that suggestion and will look into it properly this weekend but from what I’ve seen on the website it looks really interesting an opportunity to help others and also learn a little about some other parts of the world. Thank you.2 -
Managed to get home for dinner, spend a bit of time with my family which has been nice. Working again tomorrow but Sunday is going to be a family day. Only thing planned is a Sunday lunch to pay for.1

@RelievedSheff thanks, managed to get away with just working until 1pm so had time with family this afternoon also. I was in a state of perpetual stress and burnout for far too many years, what I did to 'cope' warped my outlook and took it's toll on my family living with me, I don't plan to let that happen again so we're not sacrificing our time together.
@lucielle I'm sure that's a typo re you liking a Sunday roast with egg haha. We do cook sometimes but know my business is going to be taking a lot of my time over this coming year or two as we start to position getting to the next step so we've decided Sunday is going to be our family day and we'll have lunch out whether a roast or something else.
@MissPennySave thank you, I sure will.
@ayupmeduck thank you. My wife is in therapy as am I. Her attitude to money etc was her way of coping with how I was. I was very rarely in a clear frame of mind and it's not something I'm proud of at all but we are starting to look forward and recover together, lot of people aren't so fortunate.1
