@MissPennySave thank you. I try to keep electronic devices out of the bedroom altogether but writing things down, not a stupid suggestion, I should. I'm trying to sort a lot of things out that should have been done quite a long time ago and are now needed to move forward. I hadn't been well for a very long time, just fortunate I generally had built a good team. With my head clear I've managed to see how to move forward with things and am in a position to sustain what needs to be done. I only have the right team around me now but I have quite a lot of work to do to be making progress to get to the next step which will in turn free more of my time up.
@Iamouttheotherside Not tried the Twinnings, have tried the Tea Pigs one which is pleasant but can't say it sends me to sleep. I'll give it a go, thanks.0 -
When I had a couple of years of horrible anxiety (tbh, I'm an insomniac at the best of times), I used to buy a herbal product (available on the high street, nothing dodgy) called 'Potter's New Relax". I used to take 3 doses a day & they definitely helped. I now find myself unable to source this product for love nor money! It's a shame. I use valerian tablets when I need them, but the others had valerian with additional soporific herbs & I found them very good. Insomnia is just awful - I've had it on & off (mostly on) since I was 17. I can get off to sleep fine, but often wake around 3.15. If I sleep right through to 5am, that's a result for me.
Agree lack of sleep very wearing & hinders concentration.

Another working week over. I've got some work planned for this weekend, not lots but we are having our Sunday as a family day again and are going to have quite a bit of time together tomorrow too. Weather not forecast to be great so going to make some hot chocolate, and watch a film tomorrow evening. Possibly have lunch at a cafe so should all be well within budget.
I bought some of the tea this evening, went home from work via Sainsburys. Absolutely whacked tonight and just made myself a cup of it so going to try it, thanks @Iamouttheotherside / @MissPennySave
Meant to also say we also registered with lend with care and have loaned some small amounts of money to a couple of people and their ventures. I've a lot of time for anyone starting out in business or scaling a business no matter the size or industry. One of my staff has loaned some small amounts too. Our son gets £10/w pocket money plus some for his birthday and Christmas. He can do as he wishes with £5/w, save the equivalent of £3/w and give the equivalent of £2/w idk I hope it'll help him when he's older. Tbh it's !!!!!! heartbreaking seeing just how little some parts of the world have. Suggested it to my sister but she never messaged me back.
@foxgloves Unfortunately I know what both horrible anxiety and insomnia is like, I'm sorry you do too. I have the other problem, I can't get to sleep tbh only thing that's made any real profound difference my gp is, rightly in my case, very reluctant to prescribe. I do better with sleep when I'm actively managing stress. I need to get back to making sure I'm doing so, it's not good for my health, recovery or for family life when I'm overly stressed. I like the quote you have, in days gone I would have interpreted it quite differently but I'd like to think I understand the actual sentiment now.5 -

Unfortunately been really struggling with everything but working and letting work take over again. Quite aware it's not good for me or my family. In better news, looking like I'll hit my personal finances target for the month although all the other healthy targets I had I've completely failed with. Can only try for the rest of the month, need to keep myself accountable.
@MissPennySave the tea seemed to work well Friday night and Tuesday night, rest of the time my sleep has been a complete joke.0 -
You are hitting the financial target so that is a positive, with "all the other healthy targets I had" why not have 1 or 2 rather than what sounds like a lot, set yourself up to succeed, rather than having a lot of targets and telling yourself you have failed, especially as it is only a bit over half way through January. Set 1 to achieve between now and the end of the month, even if its to cook or help cook lunch for the remaining Sundays. You can do this, but you need to tell yourself you can do a&b rather than you cannot do qrstuvwxyzCredit card debt - NIL

Hitting financial target because I’m doing nothing but working ha. Thank you though, concentrating on 1-2 things would be better really. There’s so much I need to improve personally I know I’m just retreating to what I do ok at.1

Hi Alt, I haven't posted on your new diary but have been really pleased to see you back and posting, you seem in such a better place.
Don't beat yourself up you have made real progress, before you wouldn't have even seen you were being unrealistic in your targets, just acknowledging that now is a massive achievement and a big step.2 -
Another working week of the year gone idk 2023 seems to be flying by already. We are going out again on Sunday as a family so already have that planned. Apart from that I was going to work tomorrow but so whacked I think I'll just a few bits that'll make next week easier as we've got a long weekend coming up that week.
@KxMx thank you I am staying on track in one regard and generally am in a better place.
Had a bit of time to think tonight and for the rest of January I've like to keep my Sundays for my family and get to the gym three times over the week and do a yoga class. I'm not really exercising, which doesn't help tbh if 1 or 2 sessions are home gym that'll be better than doing nothing. I know work becoming compulsive again is not good news for me, think my sleep is so bad because I'm working until it's stupidly late, going to bed straight away and can't switch off. Someone on here I think said could I make better sleep my target for this year and the pros think it is something I should have as a major priority, it'd do me the world of good tbh.

Had a nice weekend with my family. Spent some time thinking I can't let my business take over me again, ultimately I do for my family and our quality of life, letting work become compulsive again isn't the best thing for my family and when I get like that I don't help myself, my business or family. Wind up with no quality of life when I'm working so much, don't spend anytime with my family and profitability not really improved by me obsessing over it. Just make myself ill in the end and not worth it. I didn't used to believe family was the most important thing and thought if I could just give them everything they want financially that would be enough. Been good to spend time with my wife and boy this weekend. Last night I slept well, have done some work over this weekend but not let it take over.
On track with things financially and this week I want to ensure I stay on track with my mental health too.6
