Do you average 70mpg?Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

The thing about EVs is that while the cost per mile may vary significantly in % terms (in Nick’s case 56%) depending on temperature and driving style, the difference between very poor and very good consumption is only about 1.5p/mile. My Golf costs me about 12p/mile but if my consumption increased by 50% (say I was crawling through London) the additional cost per mile would be 6p.Northern Lincolnshire. 7.8 kWp system, (4.2 kw west facing panels , 3.6 kw east facing), Solis inverters, Solar IBoost water heater, Mitsubishi SRK35ZS-S and SRK20ZS-S Wall Mounted Inverter Heat Pumps, ex Nissan Leaf owner)0 -

My average Wh/mile went up about 20 after downloading the extra ~100bhp on the TM3 LR, but I take full responsibility for that, and the big grin on my face when pushing the Go pedal hard.
I see from the logbook, the Y is about the same, with a rating of ~370kW, but I may have grown up a bit now and no plans to max that out. Plus, she's a taller girl, with a chassis about 3in higher, to throw round the corners, not like the electric go-kart 3.Mart. Every Ltr is logged at the pump, mileage, Ltr, cost,
I have it serviced every year not every 20'000 miles , my average milage is 6,000
No idea what Miss Daisy is, I drive within speed limits most of the time although I have a speed awareness course for doing 84 in a 70 on the A14

9252 miles cost £255.40.... 2.76p/mile ( measured at the meter).
So far this year it's 2.67p/mile (fewer pre-conditions & I stopped Octopus doing multiple charges during the 6 hour off peak window).4kWp (black/black) - Sofar Inverter - SSE(141°) - 30° pitch - North LincsInstalled June 2013 - PVGIS = 3400Sofar ME3000SP Inverter & 5 x Pylontech US2000B Plus & 3 x US2000C Batteries - 19.2kWh0 -

Ahead of the release of SMMT registration statistics due today is this very bullish article from the co-founder of MyEnergi (maker of the Zappi). While he makes a valid point (often raised by Nick) that SalSac sales are replacing sales to private buyers, I believe he is being a little optimistic expecting EV sales to grow by 27% this year. Yes they probably will grow significantly in numerical terms but, despite heavy discounting, they are still not showing any real signs of increasing market share significantly over 2023 levels which is the real indicator of growth. I am expecting to see volume growth in April in the EV market except for Tesla who are continuing to lose market share. We will see shortly.
EV’s aren’t dead, so why are we in mourning?
This is where the crux of the problem in reporting on EV markets lies: EV sales and market share are up—the 2024 forecast from the SMMT is a 27% increase in EV (BEV and PHEV) registrations compared with 2023—and ICE sales and market share are down, but because fewer private buyers bought EVs in January and February (notoriously tight months for middle-income earners), many media outlets have spelled this the end of EVs.
While the UK is behind initially estimated trajectories for the private buyers’ market, businesses and leasing companies are buying up EVs in their droves, and many of these are ending up as essentially private cars by salary sacrifice schemes, which allow employees to lease an EV via salary deduction at very attractive rates.
