Purely anecdotal, but I was chatting to a PV/batt installer yesterday and discussing options. I mentioned that I'd been keen on Givenergy as their hybrid setup suited my needs, but I'd started to notice more and more concerns on forums about software.

He advised me that his firm (he's the owner) stopped installing Givenergy systems just over a year ago due to high failure rates both hardware and software issues. He explained that the support from the company wasn't good enough.

I got the impression this was genuine, not just an attack on the product, as he was happy with lots of other makes / solutions, not 'pushing' anything in particular.

Hope this helps, but I know next to nothing about batts, nor Givenergy, so just for info.
Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 28kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

For general PV advice please see the PV FAQ thread on the Green & Ethical Board.

I was mad keen on getting an A-i-O but I've now transferred my affection to a Sunsynk 8.8kW hybrid inverter, which can do the instant islanding, with the addition of a suitable contactor.

    I've a Givenergy system, 2 x 5kW Gen3 hybrid inverters and 4 x 9.5kWh batteries coupled to 15kW PV and couldn't be happier.
Support I've found is the opposite from Givenergy, there's always quick responses especially from the Facebook groups.
A good majority of problems are due to poor installation and incorrect commissioning.
As they are one of the most popular systems, you'll hear about problems rather than praise like most things.
    PV total 19.8 kW system:
23 x 420W East/West split over two flat roof areas at 10 degrees inclination.
13 x 390W South spit over two flat roof areas at 5 to 20 degrees inclination.
6 x 390W south wall mounted at 90 degrees inclination.
7 x 390W West wall mounted at 90 degrees inclination.
    2 x 5 kW hybrid inverters
    4 x 9.5 kWh batteries (38 kWh total)

I'm glad your system is working well.  Unfortunately, I have had terrible experience with them, when ever I have contacted them.

About two years in, I am more than happy with my Givenergy system but on the Faceache group I see lots of issues with support. I had to replace the dongle on my AC coupled inverter and needed to contact them to get the dongle registered to the inverter which happened fairly quickly. Certainly I got a much faster response than I expected given what I had read. I also notice that some other makes seem as bad if you only go on the relevant Faceache groups.

I had exactly the same experience with my local installer back in Feb 2025 when I was getting quotes. They were listed as approved installers for GivEnergy, SolarEdge and Tesla. I was interested in the GivEnergy AIO and Tesla PW3 systems, and ended up getting the Tesla PW3. They had stopped recommending or installing GivEnergy systems due to the number of issues they were having with them.

@debitcardmayhem has posted over on the main Energy board that GivEnergy will start charging for use of their web portal and API.

Hopefully they can share some more details over here for the Green and Ethical geeks …

I received this email, I have no strong feeling about it. I think maybe a tiered approach might be better - basic, advanced and pro. But that email was a howler!

I used their app for a few months after I got the system installed. I have Home Assistant up and running; the GivTCP seems to keep it ticking along ok. It has needed occasional inverter power cycles (maybe one or two every 3-4 months). I don't use their solcast integration or any of the cloud services.
