Customers using Featherbed Court car park in Seaham "will be monitored by CCTV and if they park in the car park then leave the site, they will be slapped with a £100 fine."
The landlord of this car park claims they have "reluctantly" had to impose new restrictions following the new parking charges Durham County Council brought in.
BPA Approved Operator Parking Group Ltd now manage the car park.

RIP Off Britain (BBC 2:00 pm today). Elderly gent dealing with 11 PCNs from Excel. His car was stolen and tickets racked up by whoever stole the vehicle. Appealed all 11 (separately), first one cancelled, but Excel refused to cancel the other 10. Progressed to debt collection ... and now 'owing' £1,600.One of the experts explained the difference between council (said they should be paid immediately! hmmm) and private tickets. Said that only the driver could be held liable (appeared ignorant of PoFA). Anyway, the programme had contacted Excel and they've said that it was an 'admin error', overlooked at the time of the appeals as they were dealing with other issues (maybe lack of income?) as it was at the height of Covid lockdown. They have now cancelled all 10.The poor old guy broke down in tears at the news. Really highlighted the awful stress this dreadful industry puts on people. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. https://uk.news.yahoo.com/fury-darlingtons-controversial-car-park-190000715.htmlRepresenting himself in court, Chris told the judge that the parking charge notice violated the Inequalities Act, and principles from contract law.New one on me! 😄Chris added: “The judge dismissed the fine and said that the expectation to pay within five minutes wasn’t achievable or fair.”Even the 10 minutes period in the new Code of Practice will cause problems for many. Even if exceeded, provided payment for the stay covers the entire entry-to-exit period, no charge should be made. I can see many companies exploiting the 10 minutes slot to generate income.

Café owners speak out after staff receive abuse over car park they don't operate

Good to see a landowner actually respond in the report and provide their email address. Usually they keep dumb.
A spokesperson for South West Lakes Trust said issues with parking should not be directed to the café staff but rather to the parking operator directly or the lakes trust. They said:
"The car park at Argal Lake is managed by South West Lakes Trust, with Smart Parking enforcing the car parking tariffs. Customers who believe they have been wrongly fined can email info@swlakestrust.org.uk. They should include their name, car registration details and the ‘parking charge notice number’ beginning with ‘TC’."
Perhaps SW Lakes Trust / Smart Parking should consider putting a sign in the car park stating the same. Be really helpful to car park users and the café owners. IMO it really should be a mandatory requirement for all private car parks.8
