I upgraded too - I think it was an automated income check and then the PRM reached out to introduce herself (and interview me!)
Either way, for the OP question I don't think there's any material difference between upgrading to PBR/PR. The Premier element (and check) are the same.0 -
I would add that my first Child account, I was contacted by Child branch offering if there was anything they needed or I could do.1

(Removed by Forum Team)
Eventually the numbers of merchants using the older batch/manual processes dwindled to the point Visa and Mastercard basically forced the issue by deprecating and/or withdrawing the Solo/Electron symbols.
It had nowt to do with debt or poverty - it has to do with the level of trust the issuer has that the cardholder will not use the card inappropriately.
These days it's a bit of a moot point because the opportunities to use a card in a situation a bank would decline authorisation are few-to-none. It's also possible for issuers to change whether a card is enabled for offline transactions or not remotely (it's a setting stored on the chip).2 -
I decided to open a RBS account to take advantage of the £200 switch offer. Filled in the application form referenced on this thread and duly opened a Select Account. I received the Child & Co MasterCard and my account was linked to my previous RBS customer number from when I had an account 10 years ago.
I then realised that this it’s probably worth keeping the account as the 6.17% regular saver is a good deal – however I would get a better deal if I upgraded to the Premier Reward account for the reward payments (I’m eligible based on salary.)
I completed the online form to upgrade my account – however rather than upgrade my account it triggered a new application, and I ended up with a new account. I had to provide passport details again on Digidocs – they were also very thorough over proof of income and after sending 3 months of payslips they also wanted 3 months of bank statements.
Once the account was opened the branding on the RBS app changed to RBS Premier and I was allocated a Premier Manager.
A debit card arrived for the premier account a few days later. I got a Child & Co branded MasterCard again – however under my name on the front of the card it also says ‘PREMIER REWARD.’ It still has the regular number for telephone banking on the bank, rather than the premier number.

Brilliant - that'll be double the rewards for you! Would you normally meet the premier eligibility requirements?

Aye my bad. Still a couple of pay rises before I get there myself, wondered if there was perhaps a tollerance.
