Child & Co RBS Branch to close

  • Not another one of these pointless conversations - the branch name advised by the Royal Bank to the banking industry is now LONDON VICTORIA (B)

They will likely pull LONDON VICTORIA (B) for new customers, leaving the main LONDON VICTORIA sort code (160109) open for new customers until Victoria closes on 5th October 2022.
Yes I know, I already stated that in response.

It is still listed as Child and Co on the RBS system, I note as you say it has changed to Victoria when you search the official sort code.

You are not reading what has been typed out. On the RBS system, which is used when opening an account, Child and Co is still listed under its old address under the sort code 15-80-00 and is still selectable, as if the branch is still there and open. It has not been re-assigned yet.

You really don't have to take part in the thread if you feel it is pointless or be rude, especially when it is without fact.

The bank's actions speak for themselves.
The fact that they have been slow with closing down some old forms doesn't change that.

It's not just an old form, it's on the form the app directs you to when you apply through it.
  • As per usual, some on MSE clearly have some kind of complex. Do carry on. If I discover any changes to Child I will post about it unless someone else does.
  • If anyone's interested, here is the new design.

I got my replacement card in August and was still the Visa type. I was hoping they went for the “world elite debit” branding like the Chase card, with silver circles rather than red/yellow.. the Child &co card will be even worst.

Drummonds is the closest bank to my office. If I select the Drummonds sort code when opening a RBS account online (to get the switching bonus), I won’t get the Drummonds card or cheque book right? I would need to go to the branch in person to open the account?

As switching bonus is concerned and all other purposes really, it is just an RBS branch.

people with accounts at this branch always received the Drummonds chequebook and statements (printed), it was the Debit Card that was only offered in Branch, but I suspect they may now start sending it to all their customers as it is only one of the two RBS branches left in the England and both have their own branding anyway.

    Chequebook - yes

Debit card - probably not (it seems to only be Holt's and Child's where the sort code overrides the standard debit card design, so long as the account gets an offline-enabled card). Feel free to give it a try and report back though.

I tried going in person, and they will tell you they don’t open accounts in person anymore and point you to the online form instead.

You can try the form, but unless you meet premier banking criteria you’re unlikely to get the branded card (from what I’ve seen/heard so far).

If you want to try, I’d be interested to know how you get on though!
