Drummonds is the closest bank to my office. If I select the Drummonds sort code when opening a RBS account online (to get the switching bonus), I won’t get the Drummonds card or cheque book right? I would need to go to the branch in person to open the account?
As switching bonus is concerned and all other purposes really, it is just an RBS branch.

people with accounts at this branch always received the Drummonds chequebook and statements (printed), it was the Debit Card that was only offered in Branch, but I suspect they may now start sending it to all their customers as it is only one of the two RBS branches left in the UK and both have their own branding anyway.

Are there only two Royal Bank of Scotland branches left in the UK? I thought there was a couple of hundred.

RBS decided to close all branches south of the border (and I believe NatWest are doing the same in Scotland) in an effort to consolidate the brand

The only two branches remaining are Drummonds and Holts but of course they aren’t branded as RBS

As I said above, I very much suspect that now the Branded Debit card will be issued to most accounts held at the branch. As per my previous messages, I know they had issued even in the past the branded card to accounts opened/managed at the branch (where they could select that debit card type when ordering for you) and I have known a waiter working at a local restaurant having one (seen her in branch handling such a card, and I often eat at the restaurant where she works), so not exactly only PB.
  • What do you base this on?

We all only have anecdotal evidence, but from people whose accounts I read and whom I spoke to, it seems that if you open an account in branch, they can manually assign you the Drummonds card. But from my personal experience, this isn’t an option anymore as you’ll be driven away at the door.

Otherwise if you apply online and meet Premier criteria you’ll be (automatically/manually, unclear) assigned the Drummonds card. If you don’t qualify, you get the beach hut.

Until and unless someone gives an account of getting a Drummonds card online without meeting Premier criteria, I think this is the safest assumption.

I was told by my personal banker that the branded card option has disappeared from the selector in branch but we still would get the Drummonds card (pretty much sure I was the first one in this forum confirming the existence of the Drummonds card and posted the first picture of it). That is what I base it on, unless this is only for existing branch customers (hence my suspicious rather than certainty). My 13 yo son has the Revolve Current account (for 11-17) and was issued the same Branded card when he opened it 2 years ago.
  • I hate to throw a Spanner in the works, but in August I opened a 2nd RBS account (Already have Child & Co) and choose the Drummonds Branch, I didn't get a Drummonds Branded Card, but I did get a Beach Hut (Premier Beach Hut but still a Beach Hut).

  • They might just direct the hoi polloi to sister bank NatWest.

Interestingly, looking at your profile you have opened the Child & Co account online around April and the. Those two around August. I am wondering if you have applied directly for a Premier Account when opening online or you first opened a standard one and then asked to be upgraded?

I would guess that an online application for a Premier Account, no matter the branch selected, would go through a different workflow.

have you been called by the Personal Banker in Branch to discuss your Premier Account?
