Child & Co RBS Branch to close
Comments

That was not the case when I opened mine, I did not qualify for RBS premier status, nevertheless I barely started using the account and I got a call from the Personal Banker from the branch, he introduced himself, gave me his details and the. We scheduled a call to discuss my banking needs.[Deleted User] said:
Does this mean that you meet the Premier criteria and would expect one to be assigned? Because with Child & Co you don’t get one unless you otherwise meet the Premier criteriaForumUser7 said:Personal Banker wise, I think a single point of contact is preferable for me because if I need something from the last conversation clearing up, it's a lot easier if I speak to the same person. There is also the benefit of the dedicated premier line as you've said
I then visited the branch few times (it was lovely) and had few face to face chats with said person, but only have a standard Rewards account with them.
we even got around talking about upgrades to Premier and I was told that I specifically had to apply for it and I had to present evidence of meeting the criteria, strictly0 -
I don't meet the premier criteria, just as per Marchitiello's experience it appears this may be a way to get a personal banker assigned, without meeting the criteria for a premier account. I wouldn't expect one to be assigned, but it would be a lovely bonus if they were.[Deleted User] said:

Is it still possible to use the Drummond's sort code in order to open an account? If so, please may you tell me what sort code we need to put in? Thank youSaver101101 said:I hate to throw a Spanner in the works, but in August I opened a 2nd RBS account (Already have Child & Co) and choose the Drummonds Branch, I didn't get a Drummonds Branded Card, but I did get a Beach Hut (Premier Beach Hut but still a Beach Hut).

That’s the big question we’re all trying to answer!superM said:So if I apply for an account under the above sort code which card they will issue? My answer is:
if you meet Premier criteria, you’ll get a Drummonds branded one.
If you don’t, you’ll get a beach hut.Marchitiello thinks that you’ll get a Drummonds card in any case except if you’re not eligible for an offline card.If you do try, let us know how it goes.0 -
Special in the sense that not the standard application process. A while ago people mentioned that the standard one would no longer give the sort code choice anymore (like Ulster still do for example) and you'd just get the closest branch assigned.Marchitiello said:
Are you talking about this (not really a special form):trient said:How were you applying? Did you use the "special" form that was posted here a while back?0 -
Great to see they are keeping the brand going.
For Drummonds, I applied for an account post Child closure and received the hut card. Standard RBS.0 -
A coupple of updates from me.
Somone I know, annual income in the sub £30k bracket, applied online and received the Drummonds MC debit card, but worth saying that even before the RBS branch closures in London, Drummonds would have been the closest to her in terms of arial distance.
Not sure this has been shared before, but I have just noticed (downloading a statement from online banking) that my Child & Co account, under the Branch Detail section, it now list:LONDON VICTORIA (B) (where it previously listed CHILD & CO. BANKERS, FLEET ST)
1 HARDMAN BOULEVARD
MANCHESTER M3 3AQ
My son's child saving account also "held" at Child&co is still set up to receive paper statements, and the last one (edit to add: September statement) still was on Child&Co headed paper.

Interesting. Do you know when they applied, and if they were already an RBS/NatWest customer or if this was their first account?0

As far as I understood, she applied end of October, for the RBS switching bonus. She had NatWest accounts in the past but not for some years (again as we discussed switching bonus eligibility, she shared this with me). They do have an RBS credit card.ndrw said:Interesting.
