Pollyanna - I still remember that poem from learning it at school
Things to be cheerful about today -
- Waking up with little grand daughter snuggled in beside me - even though it was just after 6am! She said ' oh look I must have got in your bed! '
- Teaching her to play a new game I bought
- I'm going to get cosy on my bed with my book now7 -
I never watch or listen to the news and haven’t for many years!I don’t even put the tv on unless I’m watching something pre recorded. So much miserable and unhappy storylines etc.
My happiness things today
being cosy and warm having a lazy day ,with dgson.Having bacon on toast for breakfast. I cooked the whole pack so there’s some left for tea with a jacket potato and beans, so a nice easy tea.
Planning holiday clothes for Easter.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.5 -
My reason to be cheerful today is that I’m away in Glasgow and will be seeing one of my favourite bands play tonight.Despite the weather, it’s p!ssing it down… we have done some shopping and are now settled in a nice bar with a beer 🍺

The sun has come out now. My plastic solar flowers are bobbing away enthusiastically. Yes, classy, I know, but I like them!)7 -

My reasons to be cheerful today:
- daughter didn't wake me before 8am!! 😍
- we saw husbands friend for the first time since his cancer diagnosis. Was good to see him (prognosis good btw)
- we had a 'party tea'. Consists of sandwiches, sliced peppers, baby tomatoes, fruit bits and a few sausage rolls lol
- I have successfully made the gift for DDs friend, who's birthday is in a couple weeks, and a matching scrunchie. I also made a scrunchie for DD.
- DD had her first go at using the sewing machine. Heavily supervised lol. Was a tad stressful for me, but really nice to see her taking an interest.
Off for a nice soak now.February wins: Theatre tickets5 -
Many years ago I was on a bus feeling a bit down because it was pouring with rain. We went past Finsbury Park, all green grass and trees, and I said to myself, probably for the first time, that without the rain, we wouldn't have all these wonderful green areas, and that has stayed with me ever since.
(Mind sometimes I think Scotland can overdo it a bit - it's pouring again! )9 -
Today's 3 things:
Lovely walk in Bedfordshire as part of a friend's birthday celebrations
Found a new to us place for future visits
Playing music with a few friends old and new.
Plus I have the Rugby on record to watch later.6 -
My reasons:
Went on a lovely walk with Mum and Dd first thing to a popular park, fed the ducks and enjoyed the peace and quiet. It stayed dry too.
Lovely visit to the garden centre this afternoon.
Tea made from all the leftovers in the fridge. Really trying to minimise food waste and avoid all the top up shops that we don't really need to it.
Grateful for the fact we can afford to put the heating on (only for a few hrs per day and if really cold), as know many are struggling and having to make hard choices.4 -
I had to work today but we finished two hours earlier than planned, especially good as we have been known to overrun and finish as late as 1am
My freezer provided me with home cooked ready meals for lunch and dinner including the veg - root veg mash and braised red cabbage 😋 so much easier when working on Saturday as the hours are depending on others and seem to overlap with meal times
I may have been stuck indoors but the sun was shining and it looked lovely outLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin4
