Woken up to blue skies and tweeting birds, it feels very spring like. I'm meeting friends this evening for a lovely catch up and having lunch with a colleague. Morning all, very cold start here but now the sun is really shining (showing up my dirty windows) and it looks as if it is going to be a lovely day.
Last night I went line-dancing. It was great - such a friendly group of people and so much laughter. Sometimes I think I won't bother - because it's late and cold - but when I get there I never regret it. I'm off to another class now which is a bit more serious. Covid interferred with the dancing, obviously, but we are getting back into re-capping the dances and learning new ones each week.
Then I'm planning a wander round the charity shops for some small vases to put flowers round the house. As seen on Alan Titchmarsh's programme (sorry, I spelt his name wrong in a previous post).
Hopefully some gardening this afternoon too.
Have a good day everyone, whatever you plan to do.8 -
Beautiful sunny day , always bring cheer 🤩
going out to the garden centre with my friends.
already given the house a clean up so it will be nice to come back to, and I know what’s for tea and it just needs warming up.Enjoy your day 😁Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.8 -
Today's reasons to be cheerful:
- I woke to sunshine this morning, lovely blue sky and white fluffy clouds - just how I like to start the day with my morning cuppa while I watch the birds.
- I had a successful trip to Sainsbugs this afternoon and managed to get everything on my (short) list. A few RTC/YS items just happened to fall into the basket too, nothing excessive but it all helps to replenish the cupboard stocks and save some cash at the same time.
- I didn't have to wait long for the bus home. It's only 3 stops but it saves an uphill walk and I can use my bus pass that doesn't often see the light of day nowadays as I tend to walk everywhere. Free exercise!
- I've finished the first cross stitch kit - one down, two to go.
Be kind to others and to yourself too.5 -
Sadly, absolutely nothing to be happy about. Feel so sorry and helpless for the people of Ukraine but I am on a fixed pension with a a incurable illness and prices are rising at an incredible rate. I suppose I should be grateful that I am safe and relatively warm but I am angry that yet again I have no control on what happens to me. Sorry if this sounds selfish because I wish younger and fitter and could help13

Not selfish at all poppy811. You are an incredibly strong & brave person.Be Kind. Stay Safe. Break the Chain. Save Lives. ⭐️2025 Savings Pot Challenge: As a monthly amount, running total = £379.00

Indeed Poppy you are a strong lady and there are lots of folk who find it hard to cope, but you are doing well honey. There are times when I think crikey life's a bit hard going ,but then I think well I have food in the cupboard, and a roof over my head, and a family who love me and I am blessed.
Being mobility impaired means I can't get around as well as I used to, but I still have my little grey cells (at the moment anyway ) I knit for charity so I help that way . There is not a lot many of us can do, but hope and pray that the lunacy will stop.
Today
1. My washing machine is churning away and it will be on the lie shortly
2. I shall sit and peel some apples for a crumble for pudding
3. Also some carrots to make a spicy carrot soup.
4. I want to make some peanut butter cookies as well, so that takes care of this morning at least
5. The sun has come out so my washing will get a blow on the line.
6. afternoon knitting ahead for me and an old film I recorded on my TiVo box to watch while I knit, (maybe a couple of biscuits with my cuppa as well, )
Keep thinking positively chums only another couple of weeks and the clocks go forward

It is hard and I'm sending a virtual hug your way Poppy. I'm on a roller coaster in finding the positives too - thanks JackieO for the reminder about the clocks, that's a good one!
And on another positive note, I'm realising more and more that an old style way of living is very often an eco-friendly one. Cutting down on fuel bills - well all bills really - living simply, not getting caught up in materialistic stuff, appreciating the beauty in the here and now, supporting each other, is good for us and our planet. The planet, more than ever, needs a ballast of people living in a lower impact way. There's something lovely about looking up at the blue sky with its yellow sun, or at the blue and yellow spring flowers that are popping up everywhere at the moment and seeing the colours of the Ukrainian flag. The moments when I notice these colours kind of tie hopelessness and hopefulness together for me right now.11
