Good Morning everyone and here in the Garden of England its a beautiful spring morning, the sun is shinging brightly and so far
1, I have hung my washing out on the line to dry
2, Spoken to one of my grandsons on the phone
(always love doing that and he was disappointed he couldn't come home this weekend from Uni as he has a rotten cold ) but he will be home next weekend instead .
3. I shall take myself off to see the new family of baby ducklings at our local park
4. I am reasonably fit and healthy and still thank goodness like YorkdLass have my wits about me.
(not so sure about the dancing though)
5.Drinking a cuppa and nibbling on a peanut butter cookie, made yesterday from surplud dough I had frozen a couple of weeks ago. They really are very moreish
so plenty to make me smile today.
Hearing the news this morning I realise how very lucky I am to live in a country that's not at war. Those poor children who are being displaced from everything that's normal for them. Adults find it hard enough but how to explain to little ones that their whole world has changed almost overnight
I have sent off a donation to the Red Cross for the appeal, I so hope everything gets resolved soon. Bearing in mind we have just all survived a pandemic, why on earth would anyone want to start another war, haven't enough people died in the past two years
Stay safe everyone and be kind to each other

Today's reasons to be cheerful:
- I've been to the hairdressers today for a tidy-up and some thinning out at the back so now I feel properly turned out. I'm lucky to have a good head of hair (thanks mum & dad) but it does get very heavy if it's not kept under control.
- Then I went to the PO and paid the LO cash from last month's grocery budget into a savings account I have, so a bit more in the squirrel fund for next winter's energy bills.
- On the way home I saw not one, not two, but a whole group of red kites circling overhead. I think they come from the Harewood House estate which is about 3 miles north of where we live where they were re-introduced in 1999 as part of a UK conservation initiative. Apparently, there are a number of collective names for them - a wake, a roost, a husk, a soar or a kettle. I'll own up to googling that.
You never know, that might crop up as a question in a quiz!
- It's heartening to see so much kindness around with all the different donations for the Ukrainian refugees. There's too much suffering in the world without anyone making it worse.

I’m very proud of my eldest daughter who spent the day volunteering at a collection centre for donations being sent out to the Polish/Ukraine border. She’s been busy - they packed four large lorries’ worth today and those are en route tonight. She also managed to talk the owner of an IT company into donating £100,000 worth of phone chargers (solar and wind-up) and charge banks.13

I had a lovely half day doing voluntary work. It makes my heart singNo man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.6 -

Hello, I've just been reading through all the lovely messages and RTBC. I love the comments and Jackie, I believe it was your post, mentioning the 2" pocket in girls knickers for hankies in PE. When I was about 7 or 8 we had a handkerchief check in class and we all had to wave our hankies to show the teacher we had them during the day - and didn't sniff! Those were the days when we had material hankies rather than tissues. We once had a maths teacher in senior school who used to use his huge, white handkerchief as a compass on the blackboard when drawing a circle. That was a bit off-putting!

I trimmed my mum's hair before colouring it this morning, that made her cheerfulNo man is worth crawling on this earth.

Hi ya chums, well although the weather is grey and damp this morning I have so far
1. Sorted out my wool stash (very overdues)
2. Dug the last of the peanut butter cookie dough from the freezer and made 16 of theme (my house smells delicious, (Delia's recipe is fantastic and very easy )
3. Got my ironing done and put away
4. Had a nice chat with my sis-in-law on the phone, who had been so ill, and she's well on the road to recovery thank goodness
5. Sorted all my tinned cupoards out, got more in there than I thought so not much shopping needed this week at all.
6. Made a jelly base for the trifle.(I thought there was none left in the cupboards, surprising the stuff you find when doing something else
.
7. Peeled and prepped veg for the coming week, spuds I put in a long tuppaware container in the fridge, saves peeling during the week.
Feel quite pleased at being so industrious this morning, and now am going to sit down with my feet up, and a few peanut butter cookies and a large pot of tea. Probably watch a film this afternoon while I knit I try to get all my small to-do jobs done in the morning then I can have the afternoon to read or knit or just watch tv. Far too wet to venture out today, feeling relaxed and quite cheery

Today's reasons to be cheerful:
- We woke to a beautiful blue sky and white fluffy clouds, a welcome change from yesterday's greyness and drizzle that lasted all day.
- This morning I went for a short walk to the local Co-op where I spent a modest £4.23. It was a very cold wind though but it blew the cobwebs away!
- I'm looking forward to tonight's fakeaway - a beef balti using some beef from last weekend's joint and naans from the freezer.
- The ironing basket is still empty.
- I've nearly finished the cross stitch I'm working on, just the outlining to do tonight.
Be kind to others and to yourself too.7
