- I've got a "do as I please" day so I shall enjoy being slothful, for once!
- A decent night's TV viewing is in the offing and I have an unopened box of chocolates if I feel the need.
- The washing and ironing baskets are empty (for now).

Good Morning everyone and a bright sunny morning at the moment .
1. My roof was fixed on Friday
2. My grandson Henry is coming home for a couple of days from Uni this Wednesday
3. I have no need to shop just yet and have cash left over in my purse from Februarys food budgetbig smiles at that one
4. My washing, done on Saturday is dry, folded and put away
5. DD came yesterday and left me a nice broccoli and cheese and tomato quiche that she spotted in M&S reduced to 90p from over £2.00 odd. That's been portioned up and frozen for lunches later this week.
She also got me a nice bunch of Daffs which have brightened up the kitchen
6. Tomorrow is a new month and a bit closer to spring and the nights are drawing out
Maybe I'm just full of optimism this morning as its a new week, and I have always liked Mondays, never had the Monday morning blues.:)
My glass is always half full
Have a smashing day chums, and a great week what ever you are doing ,enjoy it.
This morning I am batch making a few cottage pies as I dug out 500 gms of best minced beef from the freezer last night to defrost and it will make at least 5 portions once made for future meals.
I also found some diced mushrooms in there .I keep finding odds bits I had forgotten about ,now I'm eating down the freezer.
I'll probably stick a rice pudding on in the slow cooker as well today for pudding during the week
Cheers chums stay safe and keep warm

The blossom is out in force and I spotted a couple of magnolia trees about to burst into bloom - spring is here folks!

The dreadful news is making it very difficult to be cheerful but I've managed to find some reasons:
- I went for a walk (well, a stroll) before lunchtime and, although the skies were grey, it was quite mild, no wind, and the blackbirds were singing their heads off. Very tuneful even if it was heralding the arrival of rain!
- Like Jackie, I have some cash left over from February's budget so that will be going into my squirrel fund.
- I've unearthed two pairs of ankle boots from the cupboard under the stairs; thanks to not going out much during lock-down I'd forgotten all about them so that was a pleasant surprise, especially as they've hardly been worn.
- I have a full carrier bag of unwanted items to take to the CS so that's a win-win for me, the CS and whoever might want them.
- Tea tonight is cold cuts of beef with chips (and maybe a stuffed pepper), one of my favourites.
ETA: LittleMissDetermined - would you believe the chocolates didn't see the light of day?Be kind to others and to yourself too.5 -
I'm inclined to agree about the news @YorksLass, I just don't know how the situation can be diffused
My reasons to be cheerful:
1 - I have started my Christmas shopping!
2 - Managed to get the dog out before the rain came... he hates the rain!

Early riser today
Birds are singing, the sky is blue and the sun is currently shining.
I'm out with friends tonight for food, drinks and a good catch up
It's my short shift today!

I’m cheerful because I woke this morning to sunshine.
my dd1 and fella came at the weekend had a lovely tea and catchup over some fizz.
Sunday had a long walk with my dsis and dsil. Saw a couple of robins, which always make me smile.
finished a good book, over the 2 days . Can now look for another on BorrowBox. Such a great way to borrow books, no late fines because you can’t make it to the Library or forget
as the send emails to remind you.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.6 -
Today's reasons to be cheerful:
- Woke up to sunshine and blue skies, it feels as if Spring is here or at least around the corner.
- SM delivery has been/gone with just one sub that I can live with. All put away/portioned up/frozen, listed etc. A small order to start off the month.
- Sunday's joint of silverside beef has stretched to 6 meals for 2 - some slices frozen in gravy and some chunked for a curry this weekend. And there's some thin slices in the fridge for sandwiches. Cost was just under £8 so I think I've had my money's worth!
- Three pairs of jeans are leaving the house. I've had them for I can't remember how long and they've been worn, washed and better washed so they don't owe me anything, plus they're too big now I've lost weight. Two pairs are in the CS bag but the other pair aren't really fit for that. I might cut the legs off that pair, open the side seams and see if the fabric will make a small shopping bag. We'll see.
Be kind to others and to yourself too.2 -
Well done YorksLass ,
I once used an old pair of worn out jeans of my grandsons to make two draw string bags for holding surplus Christmas and birthday wrapping paper .Sew the bottoms turn up bits up , turn the top bit over to make a seam and run an old trainer lace through into make a handle.
I cut them to just a bit longer than a roll of wrapping paper I can get at least 4 rolls in each one .I then hang them on the inside door handle of my small box room with a pair of scissors inside and a roll of sellotape round the door handle so I can find them easily when I need wrapping paper during the year for present and at Christmas as well. Cheap inexpensive storage solution for those pesky rolls of paper wrap
My smiles today came from the coffee morning with my friends
We all decided that we wouldn't say a word about the war in the east, as its just too sad and we need to be upbeat.
We don't discuss the virus either.
Today we were all talking about how technology has changed our lives,
I always say please and thank you to Alexacan't help being polite. and my friend said 'Do you thank the toaster for your toast when it pops up
Good point, at which we all fell about laughing, which is what we all need in these sad and unhappy times.
Then another lady said she had heard from her grandson in Southport that at his school they had been given 'pen licences' Does anyone remember them When you progress from stubby blunt pencils to pens at primary school
I think it does us all the world of good to remember things and laugh a little.
How we used to have tiny 2" square pockets in our knickers at school to put a hanky in
Its said the past is a different country ,in our case at Tuesday coffee morning it definitely is,as possibly our collective ages are about the same as the Rolling Stones but with slightly less rackety lives perhaps
But its funny, and makes us all smile and is a great treat for us all.
For a change its been very misty and damp here with a sort of drizzly mist making everything very damp and grey ,supposed to be the same tomorrow. then brightening up again .
Now into March at last, and spring to look forwward to.
Pancake day todayand Lent starts tomorrow, trying to think of what to abstain from for Lent ,toying with my beloved ginger nuts that would be a toughie for me as I am definitely addicted to them
'Hapus Dydd Gwyl Dewi' My late pa-in-law came from Tredegar and would always say it to my children so as long as its not rude then to all the welsh speakers on here ,in English
"I hope you have a good day today"
Cheers chums
