Book club was good, and we actually had a discussion about how being more cheerful can lift you up a bit.
In a poll of 12 people in our club, we all agreed that only watch the news for a minimum of once a day at most made so much difference to our feelings of optimism.
Its awful whats happening in the Ukraine, and we do sympathise, and had a quick collection for the DEC fund ,but we all said getting stressed and down won't help anyone, least of all us mainly elderly ladies (and the honorary gent who turns up to join us all.) Certainly won't make a scarp of difference to those poor people.
I was speaking to my DDs ma-in-law this morning, and she is definitely getting very stressed and full of anxiety about the situation this morning, and I said to her turn the tv off, open the windows ,walk down the garden and back, and just look and list all the good things you can see, the bulbs poking up, the sky and sun, and just listen to the world going on in her garden and stop thinking negatively. It will go on no matter what she does, and worrying is only hurting her at the moment, and making her feel quite ill bless her. She is 85 next month and a bit of a worrier. I'm sure she worries when she can't find anything to worry about.
So she is going to ring me later this afternoon and tell me some of the positive things she's done today.
I've just peeled and diced a kilo of carrots and the spicy carrot and coriander soup is on, I've also made a banana custard using up some bananas that were getting a bit speckly. New library books put away and Just made a pot of coffee so fairly busy and positive since I came home and now am going to put my feet up and knit and listen to the wireless for a little while while I finish off a few more blanket squares.
Anyone done anything positive today that's cheered themselves up ?

JackieO my late mum would also worry if she had nothing to worry about she could have so many scenarios in her head of what could happen. My would say you die if you worry you die if you don't
A dentist check up requiring no treatment is a good reason to be cheerfuleven if my purse is now £23 lighter, my dentist surgery is so nice that a chat to the receptionist is almost (not quite) worth the visit.
Driving home and enjoying the daffs along the verges the road next to mine is always a picture and as i walked up the path the crocus are still in flower I love the clash of the purple with the tete a tete narcissus, the camellia flowers survived the storms and are a mass of pink flowers (it was a £5 market find a few years back) and the Hellebores flowers (Christmas Roses) are going strong

- It's been a beautiful sunny day and the clouds are tinged with pink as the sun sets.
- I've made a large pan of spicy parsnip & potato soup using a ys bag of parsnips that I bought yesterday, so that's a few lunches sorted out for just pennies.
- I've also made a fruit loaf in the BM using store cupboard ingredients that I already had, cost is probably half that of a bought one.
- I'm looking forward to starting a new knit tonight using a bamboo/cotton yarn I bought last year.
- The results from my recent diabetic retinal screening came in the post this morning, all is well so that's done and dusted for another year.

I had a long day at work. Finally back, flopped into bed and am so glad of my heated blanket. I feel cosy and cheerful albeit knackered.

Coriander, basil and rocket seeds are through. Keeping them in the kitchen for now but will !!!!!! out and pop in the greenhouse when they have a decent root structure.
meeting a friend For coffee today, she is picking me up7 -
Hubby has treated me to breakfast out this morning which has been lovely. Certainly better than a bowl of muesli anyway. I've had a 3 hour meeting cancelled at work, which is always good and frees time to do some tangible work so I can feel like I've been productive. Just a shame about the weather today after we have had such a lovely run of sunshine.

I am happy because Nazanin is finally free. Watching the footage of her young daughter on TV this evening reminds me of my cheeky little niece. No man is worth crawling on this earth.
