Well, DHs planned op got cancelled on Friday due to the weather, but as DDs school got closed, we had sent her to Nana's early (so they weren't having to drive in Fridays awful weather). So we unexpectedly got a child free day to ourselves (as I had booked Friday off).
DD got 2 nights with Nana and Grandad and had lots of fun.
I measured and cut lots of fabric, finally thread my overlocker and then used it for the first time. And yesterday I made myself a pyjama top!
We didn't have to go out in the awful weather, and our roof and garden are still in tact. Everyone we know and love is safe and well, and we didn't even have a power cut here. Very blessed.
I did go yesterday when it was still windy, but less so, and got our weeks shopping using 2 vouchers that shaved almost £6 off the cost and then got a 7p off per litre of fuel voucher to use, so filled the car up and saved almost another £3 on that. Eye watering costs for fuel now! And yes, I planned the trip carefully to maximise use of the vouchers.
Anyway, lots of positives this weekend. Stay safe everyoneFebruary wins: Theatre tickets8 -
What a fantastic thread! Really heart-warming ❤️My reasons for being cheerful today:
- listening to my 6yo son chatting away to my husband and noticing he still adorably says “constructions” instead of “instructions”; I’ll miss that one when it goes
- it’s DH’s birthday today, so we have steaks for dinner and I’ve baked him a pistachio cake with chocolate buttercream which I’m looking forward to!
- my 75yo MIL has been “in between homes” (mainly staying with BIL but sometimes with us) and also in and out of hospital for the last couple of months but she got the key to her new (sheltered housing) flat on Friday; it’s a good chance for a fresh start for her and will relieve some stress from DH and his brother.
- my 6yo has been very cuddly and affectionate today - at 3 and 6, I’m enjoying the stage both my children are in very much. My 3yo is still adorable in that short-lived baby/toddler way (but now sleeps and is outgrowing bad tantrums 😆), and my 6yo is old enough to do fun things with and not be such hard work, but young enough that his world still revolves around DH and I. Soaking up this stage before friends and school take over.Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

Forgot my most “old style” relevant reason to be cheerful! My chickens have begun laying again this week! My own personal yardstick of when spring has begun 😆Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

Very grateful for being spared the worst of the storm in my corner of the world. Am exercising again and feeling great, there's nothing like a blustery walk by the seaside all wrapped up and ready to face the elements including flying sand! Am surprised how much sand found its way from the beaches onto the esplanade, but living by the seaside is so uplifting! Its getting noticeably lighter so my mood is improving, I had a tough January and I'm now looking forward to spring. The dual carriageways are brightened up with beds of daffs, and today I saw the first signs of blossom on the trees

Morning chums oddly my reason to feel cheerful this morning is the quote from my builder to repair the roof where the tiles have fallen off I was expecting it to be more and although its enough its not half as bad as I thought and he's put me on his priority list for this week
so one less worry.
All the family are safe and sound, and the superficial damage to fences etc is all repairable ,where as repairing people is not so easy.
The sun is shining and although breezy not too windy at the moment .
The daffs are out in my garden and I finished 6 little knitted baskets for my grandaughters for Easter, which I will fill chocolate bunnies .
For once I'm in front of my knitting to-do list
I'm just about to have a large cuppa, and I've got some cookie dough out of the freezer to defrost.
best of all the nights are drawing out and soon the dark nights of winter will be gone and spring will arrive .
Life is good
Lots of happy vibes on hereand folk seem to be cheering up by the week by just the fact of forthcoming springtime.
keep it up chums, positive thinking9 -
I’m happy to fit and well.
i have a job and house
my daffodils are starting to open in the garden.
I am warm and have food .
I pray everyone is happy today and has stayed safe through the storms.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.9 -
