Afternoon turtles. I'm shattered!
Worked all day yesterday, overnight sleep-in (although was awake working for half of it) and then finished my shift this morning. It was an absolutely crazy shift, with three different hospital trips. Am working with very high-need children in care and it's tough going at the moment, I take my hat off to my colleagues who are there full-time.
I popped to my local aquatics shop after work to get some fish (long planned) to add to my tank. Needed petrol, and also caved and bought an energy drink and a small bottle of wine for later. Had to order a couple of fish bits online when I got home as well.
Went to see my pony but no riding in this weather, just gave him some fuss and apples. Now home to finally relax before going back to full-time job tomorrow. Could definitely do with a day off but hey ho.8 -
for @apple_muncher - blimey, was that really 2008???It takes quite a bit of will power to stop you buying something your really want, especially when it is on special offer or reduced! But my trusty Billy Can is here to remind me and this is where things get a little bit confusing. Can you control your own will power and demonstrate free will? Or are these 2 completely different things?Longwinded this may be, but it's quite intriguing and I was amazed the first time I tried this. Keep in mind that the object of this entire challenge is to save money, clear debts and live a frugal life whilst aiming to hit whatever targets we have set ourselves. Will power has brought you this far and now it's sitting on your desk with a nickname - Billy Can.
Work out your grocery allowance - On £120 per month, mine is £3.93 per day (1440/366). It's a good idea to double check your figures against what you have already spent, just in case you need to adjust your budget. Using nothing more than will power, see how much you can shave off one week's grocery bill and, whatever it is, place the cash in your Billy Can. Make sure that you use the correct figures and that you know what your budget is. At the end of next week, there will hopefully be something in your billy can and then we'll see how frugalized we have all become and, hopefully, have a little bit of fun.

Thank you f0xh0les! Wow, 2008. I wasn't on mse then, so must've read it when I read through some of Frugaldom's threads. She still does the challenge on £4000 per year, amazing stuff!Today has been a day of finding glass shards. 2 with my feet (1 by touch and 1 by insertion!), and fortunately spotting 1 (about 1" long and mean-looking) while serving up curry that dh made in a glass dish with lid. I don't wish to make it to 5...Today I am grateful for chatting with friends, for dc getting diagnosed, for getting our bags packed for school tomorrow so it's a case of just get up, dress and leave, for making yummy flapjack, for daffs.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!7

I was here in 2008, but I think under another name...... (shhhhh! I have aliases)Definitely remembered the Billy Can/William Power thing.Have to ask - does the curry vessel still have the lid? Those pyrex jobs shatter like swines when they explode off the floor tiles, I managed to get one shard in the back of my own leg when it fell off the draining board once.I have just tidied away the last (ys) Xmas pudding in the house into our faces, I am a very tidy person.Supper was just oatcakes and oily artichokes and s/blush tomatoes and olives and cheeses and salad. Very lovely.Mad weather here today, wet mostly, then the most amazing hail at 90 degrees and gusty winds. We can hear the wind whistling down the chimney. Supposed to be like this for the next couple of days. School run is going to be horrid.Congratulations to all those who are just starting their half term.I'm on the countdown to payday!!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

apple, Deni and shrewbie - Thanks for the hugs.
apple - great news re gs#3.
Am on 14 NSD today. Stayed in and did some household chores. Finished the first mouse from the felt craft kit. Went into work on Friday and just before 11am staff were told place of work was shutting due to the weather and we all went home. Have been in contact with brother and sister over the past few days. Did a top up food shop yesterday for the rest of the month. Planning to go a do after work, already have something to wear, not planning to buy a dress for one night, but need to buy a smaller bag. Did an extra 4 hour shift yesterday. Still trying to keep on top of things around the flat. Have been reading the books from the library.
Take care everyone and hugs to those in need of them.Frugal Living Challenge 2025 Mortgage free as of 1st August 20137 -

A wintry, stormy day today. Told hubby I wasn't going to join him for a walk & did some yoga instead. My hips are aching after doing over 16K steps yesterday. Did some ironing before picking DS3 up from his new friend's house, then spent most of the afternoon turning 2 curtains into 4, for a customer. Rewarded myself finishing it, by reading the last bit of my book 😃 don't think I'll get 3 more read in a week, unless I pick 🐞 books 😂
Grateful for good books, warm fires, BBC sounds app to listen to late night Sunday shows on R2, the curtains being easier than I thought, more donations made on my Just Giving page (now at £395)Use it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

NSD for me yesterday and today as we stayed in and swallowed some DIY frogs. OH has a habit of not quite finishing a job and then abandoning it for another new and more exciting project hence there is something to do in practically every room.
F0xh0les I once dropped a bone china plate from the Swedish shop and it ricocheted off the floor and slashed OH’s leg. I had to take him to A&E where he tried to persuade the nurse I had thrown it at him!
Today I am grateful for DS1 messaging me from Canada to tell me he had seen a raccoon, a chipmunk and some black squirrels (he was very excited), The electric not going off after a few power dips earlier and being safe indoors whist the wind is still howling around outside.9
